But you are saying 8000 is our redline WHICH IT IS NOT! What you should've said is that, our gauge says 8000, is there any way to get the revs to go that high? That's what you should've said instead of saying our redline is at 8000.

Redline is not where your gauge goes to.

its where (surprisingly) the big ******* red area is on your gauge past 6500rpm

red means dead.

why would i make this thread if i could get to 8000rpm

i was seeing if there was a way to get past 6000 or 6500 whatever stock is
The ONLY way is to have the car tuned, or a GM (or other) stage kit installed. Don't try pushing the car past that until you have it tuned. Then, even when you have GM stage whatever installed, the rev limiter will be set at 7k.

The "redline" is NOT at 8k. The tach goes it 8k. The red section of the tach begins at 6500k.

If you want to rev to 8k, upgrade the entire valvetrain.

Oh I so have to get in on this one.

That is what you said, right there. The red ARC on your tachometer starts at 6500 and continues to the top of the indicator. The red LINE is 6500 RPM.

It is redlining. That's what people are trying to tell you. And it does fall apart at 6500, because that's the engine shutting off it's own fuel to protect itself from YOU!

It's not broken. It doesn't need to be fixed. The only thing wrong with it is you revving the engine that high to start with. Stop doing that. It's supposed to stop there by design.

Get your stage two, pay for your flash, and you will get 7000. And that's it.

Just because the gauge indicates up to 8000 doesn't mean you should be trying to rev it that high. It's only there in case you downshift and drop the clutch to show you that you just over-revved your engine and probably broke something. It's not a red arc for nothing.

And, lastly, as a moderator, watch your tone. You asked the question. Don't insult people just because they tried to answer.

Moved to 2.0 performance.

I'll interject as well...

I was at the track... and I power shifted from 2nd to 3rd... I watch the tach spike to about 7800rpms... at which my car just shut off...

I thought I blew something, but no... the s.o.b. just turned off.

Check the wires that run to the solenoid for the bypass. My buddies redline was doing the same thing and we found it to be an electrical connection loose.

Rediculous posts come with every forum. I just use them as entertainment. I don't choose to flame them though if I feel they don't deserve it. As for this forum... I've heard worse. He just posted because he doesn't know too much about the whole rev thing. I have a friend that would ask something completely idiotic and he would die on here for 3rd degree burns within the first few posts.
