A how-to on pullies I cant find..
Yes, I did a search..
I am looking for a how-to on a pulley swap from stage 2 to 2.9
As I understand it, it isn't that hard, but the 2 pulleyswap how-to's I found are mostly about going from stock to stage 2, and i dont need to mess with taking off the s/c and all that.
So anyone know of a better how to, or want to do a quick explanation? My main interest is putting the belt back on after the swap. Is it tricky? Do i just push down on the tensioner to fit the pulley back under the belt? Just basically reverse the removal?
Thanks for any help

You should be able to just un-bolt the old pulley. From what I hear the stage 2 pulley bolts are *supposed* to have lock tight on them so they might be hard to get loose. The belt won't have a whole lot of extra space around the pulley to get it off. When we changed my pulley we just used a pry bar (don't remember exactly what we pried against) and pushed the tensioner down. That gave enough slack to get the belt off the pulley, but it was still somewhat tight.
Hope that helps. As a side note, you may want to just take the supercharger off anyway. It's only held on by 4 bolts and a couple sensors. Especially if you are having problems getting the screws loose you might consider taking the charger off

I heard you can leave it in gear and will prevent the belt from moving. I'm not sure but I will find out soon. Pulley is in the mail right now and as soon as it ships I'm putting it on. I'll let you know.
Not true. It works for some people that have strong factory tensioners. For others, the pulley will just spin around the belt.
I ordered mine from nate, and his website has 2 different kinds of pullies. I think the stock hub has 5 bolts, whereas the stage 2 hub has 4. I have stage 2 already, so I made sure to get a pulley that has 4 bolts..
Stage 2 hub has 4 bolts.
All other aftermarket companies are 5 bolts.
D4u2s0t, the stage 2 hub will go down to a 2.7" pulley if you were curious, I know you have a different aftermarket hub.
yea, i have the intense hub. was just making sure for the guy, since i could have sworn you needed a different hub than stock. learned something new!
It isn't hard, but it isn't easy either.
Get a 15mm wrench, hammer it down onto the tensioner and push down and towards the firewall at the same time. Easiest way I have found to release tension on the belt.
Make sure you at least loosen the bolts on the pulley FIRST.
And please wrap the wrench in a rag or something, that **** WILL hurt your hand from pushing on it.
Whoops, sorry about the misusage of the term hub. Thanks for that solid advice Damien. And look what just arrived today..

It's lighter than I expected. Thanks for the sweet pulley Nate, shipping right on time, and quality product for a fair price. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Man, I just did an initial look to see how easy/hard this is gonna be, and oh yeah, its gonna be a pain in the ass..
I will probably have to take the s/c off, and i'm not really looking forward to it, but there is a good how-to on it, so hopefully it wont be that bad. Plus that tensioner is a bitch! I just messed around with it for a minute, and it wouldnt budge.. I'll try harder after I get my baseline dyno, and am ready for install.
Thanks for advice guys, and if you got any more advice, keep it comin..

from what i've heard, with the bolts having locktite on them, you have to use a LOT of force. some people have had to take of their supercharger to get them off. i'm gonna make a quick attempt today to see how easy mine come off.
The first part is to try to even break the bolts loose. Cant even get that to work. And when you do just shove a flathead in the tensioner and just pull the belt up and hold it while someone puts on the new pulley?
before your guys take off the belt makesure that you untighten the bolts first so the supercharger does not spin after they are loose just take the belt off finish unscrewing the bolts and put the 2.9 on make sure you line up the bolt holes and hand tighten the bolts then put the belt back on and finish tighing then your done..nates pulleys he make them all the way down to a 2.7 to fit the gm hub now btw
You don't.
Take a 15mm wrench, IT MUST BE 15MM, hammer it onto the tensioner(by the engine hoist hole) with a malet or hammer, wrap it in a rag or something. Push down AND towards the firewall and it will release tension on the belt.
