Don't think anyone actually has the Hurst yet....been told february release. The only complaint i have heard about the B&M is the shift knob.

If you want one now get the B&M. Hurst told us that they will not be shipping theirs til the 1st of march. We just were told this yesterday.

We do have the B&M in stock at www.turbotechracing.com

I'm going with Hurst regardless of how long it takes to get here.

I auto-x'd a friend's car with a B&M and didn't like it at all that much. I drove another friend's Trans-Am with the Hurst and liked it 1000x better. Hurst is really well-known for the quality of their shifters and I'm more than willing to wait for theirs to come out.

They're both the same. The Hurst is 28% and the B&M is "approxomately" 30% (which I would guess is the same 28% the Hurst gets).

It is honestly to hard to tell. They dont even have the final product done yet. It is still in R&D. They have proto types done that are around 30% reduction, but the final number is not yet released.

Email or PM me, I will see what I can do for you. As far as the knob, we sell Sparco knobs. We cant change them as the B&M is in a sealed package. The B&M knob on the Cobalt to me is a lot smaller than the knob on the Cavalier B&M shifter.

How hard is it to install a new shifter? Keep in mind I'm on a useless Military Installation so I don't have very many tools on hand!!

If you have a ratchet set, deep well sockets, a screwdriver, and some serious patience to get the stock knob off you won't have a problem. I didn't have to drive to Base to do it, I did it right in front of my appartment.

Also from what i've heard the B&M shifter is a straight shaft , which moves the pattern closer to the Radio , were as the Hurst shifter has a slight bend to keep the pattern closer to the stock location .. Just what i've heard and read Not 100% positive . Anyone else hear this ?

It looks from the pictures that the B&M is in fact a straight shaft, and that's what it felt like in my friend's car, like it moved the shifter way up toward the dash. The Hurst is bent slightly, again, as far as I can tell from pictures. There's a picture of the Hurst shaft here http://go.mrgasket.com/newproducts/flyers/74230g.pdf it's at the very bottom of the second page.

I dunno , I will be sampling the Hurst . Im not exactly thrilled with my B&M shifter . Its better than the stock shifter , I will give it that . The sloppyness of the stock shifter really didnt go away with the B&M . It feels more solid , and the throws are shorter , but it still feels sloppy IMO .

Maybe Im just to used to shifting a Camaro , where the shifter is mounted right on the trans . In a cable type shifter like the cobalt uses , is it impossible to rid of the slop ? Sorry if I sound like a idiot , but Ive never driven a manual car that wasnt a Camaro . Like when I have my shifter in any gear in my Cobalt , I can still wiggle the shifter from side to side , to where the F-body shifters Im used to were solid , when the stick was in the gate there was absolutely 0 slop at all , it felt VERY precise when a good shifter was used . Is what Im describing just the nature of the way a cable driven shifter in a FWD car acts ?
