I finally bit the bullet.

I have my 06 SS/SC in ZZP's shop right now!

They are installing their stage 3 kit, stage 4 clutch with fortenza flywheel, upgraded throwout, and new engine/trans mounts.

I'm sitting in a hotel a couple miles down the road being bored....

Very nice man, I have been up there twice for exhaust work. ZZP LT/Header (Cat-less DP), and cat-back installed. FULL v-band setup all the way back. They do GREAT work. Tim is a great guy. They gave me money for my stock cat and Tim cleared my CEL's so they wouldn't show up.

I live about 3 hours from there. I am just south of Chicago, and I can attest to the fun ride home.

yea i would def take the LONG way home. nice easy engagement, low speeds, sitting in neutral at a red light for that quick minute or 5 (hate those long ones). break in should be at least 750-1000 miles. some people say 500. i like to be safe about it tho especially if im dropping more then 600 bucks on a clutch.

Sounds like a plan! I'll take the long way home.

I imagine it is like breaking in brakes. Make some friction and heat, let it cool. More heat, more cool. Slip it a little, let it cool disengaged. Yada yada.
If anyone stays here while their car is at ZZP definately stay at howard johnson and visit the hot tub every night.

After my drive home, I have to say I am impressed. The clutch is incredibly smooth, I cannot even believe it is a hardcore race clutch, totally awesome. The hard mounts transfer a good amount of vibration but make the car handle way better and completely got rid of wheel hop. The car spins the tires flat all the way through the top of second (whoops). There is some gear noise transfered through the chassis on decelleration and when the engine and trans are at the same r's. It is kind of un-nerving, but I know what it is, it's just amplified through the frame now. All I have is the stage three for performance, no intake, no exhaust mods, nothing ever changed from stock, and the car is running about 15-16 psi at the top of second and third. It has way more power now. Tim and his crew took very good care of me and I am happy with my decision to have ZZP work on my SS.

I'm out. Happy Easter everyone!

I'll have ZZP do the exhaust manifold and stuff after my bank account recovers a little.

thanks

Well spinning tires through 2nd is dumb. Who wants to spin all the way through 2nd? A good pair of tires will help
