I give up with the CEL. P0172
Hey guys awhile ago i had a problem with the cel coming on everyday. well it turned out all my misfiring was cause my faulty coils. well this P0172 ( system to rich) Bank 1. will not stop. i though it was getting caused by the random misfiring but i guess not. what can this be? Today every time i delete the code it comes back within seconds.
and the cel is like a needle in my eye.

I get this code, and its always while idling somewhere after driving for awhile. At about 1100rpms. I'll post my freeze frame data from my scanner when it happens again for me. I just delete it and go on my way. But I believe it can be 1 of 4 things, and im not one to play a guessing game replacing parts that don't need to be.
My car has a 2.9 pulley, lucas injectors, and a tune from psykosteve.
And it started happening this summer for my car.

Have you tried valve lash adjustment? I'm still new to the intricacies of the ecotec, but on my integra i got the same code, as well as the a/c not working well. I did a lash adjustment and fixed both! It only took 20 minutes. Again, not sure if it's that easy on your engine.
How many miles on your car? I've seen O2 sensors in the exhaust manifold cause a false lean code because they were failing. Also you have an 06 with an intake on a factory tune which will cause this unless you have the current update or a stage 2 tune.
i had this happen to me today. i put a spectre intake on and never disconnected my batterie. so i was in a city and kinda launched my car and i had a check engine light come on. i took it to auto zone they gave me that code. then i disconnected my batterie for about 5 min. put it back in and did a couple of hard pulls and it hasnt came on. what if u cleaned ur maf sensor and TB. i did that two days ago to get my rpms from jumping around. maybe?
well i cleaned my maf sensor and throttle body 2 days ago and nothing happened same crap. i just found a chassi dyno(dyno jet) in lancaster Its only a hour drive away.maybe they can fix this problems. while im at it i can put my 42lbs injectors on and my 2.9" pulley one and just get it all tuned for that.

you said a current update what do you mean reflash ?
hey guys i got some more info for ya! well first ill just tell you guys im still on the stock tune with just an intake and catback. well i noticed somethings about the cel. well i just noticed that it only comes on when i have a 1/4 tank or less of gas? when its full 3/4,1/2 nothing but when it gets low it comes on. today i had a 1/8 of a tank and it kept comeing on right after i deleted it 9 times in a row. so i gave up and fill my tank and it stoped comeing on? i hope this helps someone out. Thanks
watch out for new fuel additives....shell "nitrogen" speedway "stp" etc...I have seen this ever since the gas companies started adding other chemicals to the petrol...they say it is to clean and it helps for storage and shipping...I think it is just like watering down alcohol at a bar to get a couple extra shots out of the crown royal....anyway my brother in law works at an oil company and has shared with me all the new additives are causing volume problems in the the test fuel cells. This is what the fuel companies are trying to figure out now...we are the experiment..or I should say our cars are part of the experiment...anyway there are 2 main parts of fuel that our engines can meter...one is volume the other is pressure...if you change the volume the pressure has to compensate either up or down...if you use the new e-85 you will burn out injectors because of the duty cycles trying to compensate for something that is not happening...it is just fooling the computer because the chemical make up is different...I guess this is the long way around the barn...in short watch where you get your gas...try sunoco or any other non-middle eastern petrol station...you will probably see it all go away....
Well thats a good explaination.. but thats not what is going on here...
Im not sure why our cars do this, but when we hit under a 1/4 tank (closer to the 1/8th mark) we actually start running leaner AFR's... This was even printed in my hahn turbo kit manual...
