Went for a day/night to wis dells. Came around a tall tree corner on I-90 and low and behold i saw the cop before he saw me. I was speeding at 80-90 in a 65. As i pass him he's on his walkietalkie calling in something prolly "red cobalt"

Anyway I see him through my rearview mirror slowly getting on the highway. I get over to the slower lane and cruise at a decent speed behind a semi-truck. He flashes his lights and instantly pull over. However i KNEW he didnt get me speeding cause i slammed on my brakes as i saw him around the corner and he didnt have a radar on me.

He comes to the car and asks where im heading.obviously i tell him "to the dells and im extremely excited cause i never been there." Hand him my license and insurance card. He doesn't say anything about my speed. He decideds to bust me for my Front license plate, 20% TINTS ALL THE WAY AROUND, And my AFTERMARKET exhaust. He gives me 4 warnings with written intent to get fixed and returned back by sept 3 or i get 4 more tickets. and Wrote me a 150$ front plate ticket.

His explantion was my exhaust wasnt factory. my tints weren't 35% when it's only illegal in IL to have 20% on back if none on front he told me something else. I DID NOT argue with the state trooper 1 bit. I was smiling and accepting all Bullshit.

Somehow i don't believe a state trooper of WISCONSIN can inforce laws when it's not in my state.

anyone get something simliar to this bullcrap. i'm talking to a lawyer soon to see my options. id rather pay a lawyer than the stupid state.

He can't give you a ticket for tint then if its legal where your car is registered. Im from alabama and was in Tennessee whn I first got my car and I had no tag. We have 2 weeks from date of purchase to get one. And cop pulled me over and tried to give mr ticket bc on tenn you have to have at least a temp tag. Then told me since our law was diff he couldn't give me one

 

Also my brother in law is a cop. I asked him and he said as long as its legal in your state. Another state can't give you a ticket.

 

ya i had the same problem i was from colorado and got pulled over in AZ and u got a warning, but he CAN NOT give u a ticket for something that is illegal in that state, unless your car is registered in that state, like me since im in the military my car is registered in CO but i live in seattle, so they cant bust me for my after market exhaust and my limo tint haha

According to op. Its only illegal if its just the back. But he said he has tint all the way around. But idk. Im from alabama not illinois lol

 

all they have to say is ignorance of the law is no excuse dont pay get license suspended dont show up for court get a bench warrant and enjoy tossing some salads

 

He gave me a ticket for the front plate which was 150.10$. then wrote me 4 warnings to get my tint removed to legal. Also to get my exhaust back to stock. I have to do this by sept 3 and get a police station to sign off on this sheet and send it back to Wisconsin or else i get 4 tickets on top of the friggin front plate

i still think it's bull that he's Enforcing IL laws on me when where in WI lol.

 

I'm sure that cops know the laws in the states near them, as well as their own.

You were going to get busted for the front plate sooner or later. Just suck it up like everyone else and put it on.

People still don't know about the change in tint laws in IL, so if you are indeed in the legal allowances, you could fight that one. Just be glad you weren't in the city, since Chicago doesn't recognize the change in law and it's still illegal there.

I admit to not being in the know on exhaust laws, since I haven't done anything to mine. But I've always heard that it is technically illegal to change it from the OEM parts.

get the hideaway plate thats motorized, leave it hidden under the car, when he goes to give you a ticket hit the button to flip it up and then tell him check again. make him look retarded

i might just order that lol. Anyway ran down to my local police station and showed a cop what the trooper wrote me. He's like get ur tints off and put ur plate on. And yeah all AFTERMARKET exhausts are illegal but damn everyones got them. He signed my sheet and now i can send it! i might just pay the dumb ticket and not worry about a lawyer
