yes my way to get there is going to cost more than 10 grand...

after all my research i figured around 12-13

but to me it will all be worth it and i am making it so its a reliable car

i figure you can be different and take risks but in the end its all worth it....

otherwise if ur not much of a risk taker go with the stage 5 and good luck
I understand wanting to be different and not take the path most traveled. That's fine and great because it is people like you who push the envelope and move the bar up for the rest of us. My hats off to you for that.

You seem to be willing to put the money into what it is going to take to reach your goals. That's important, because if you really want a reliable car it's going to take all that money and maybe then some. I feel like the thread starter is in for a tough time though and that's no offense to him at all. I am just not sure he understands that adding a lot of extra power and getting that to be reliable is as simple as a putting a new clutch and axels on the car. It's not and as I said in my previous post once people start pushing the 300, 350, 400+hp envelope the real weaknesses of the car are going to come through loud and clear and will probably be a lot more then clutches and axels. That was my point to the thread starter.

I did misunderstand the thread a bit though and I apologize for that. I thought the thread starter was shooting for 400+hp on 5k dollars. My apologies.

I will finish with some general advice to everyone because from being on this forum for a few months now I have noticed that everyones answer to more hp is stage kits from various companies. Those are great because the basic work is done for you, and they are simple add ons, but I still feel it's extremely important to have the knowledge of tuning, and engine building before you start adding hp to your car. I suggest that everyone here who is dropping thousands on their car to go fast make sure you know the ins and outs of compression as it relates to engines and power, air flow and how it relates to engines, fuel systems, tansmission, traction, power adders, and all the other real basics of car tuning that seems to go by the wayside here. I get the feeling most here want to slap parts on go fast and call it a day without even know what those parts are doing to the car. That's why cars break down. That's my whole point.

Good luck to everyone in this thread who is trying to build a reliable monster.
