IF you have a flowmaster please give your opinion

Im thinking about getting a flowmaster . The 60 series is only made upto a 2 1/4 so its too small for my 2.5 piping. I was thinking the 50 delta series .
I have a bunch of mods including the JBP header wich already gives the exhaust a gargle with a 3'' catless down pipe and resonator. The catback i have now is a magnaflow it sounded pretty god till a few weeks ago and now its just really annoying ! ITs raspy as hell and i think its like this because of the 2 stepping and no lift shifting i do , yes i have the wot box . Neways what do you guys think ?

I see all kinds of problems with your exhaust set up.

For one, any header that makes your car sound like a WRX is fail.

Seriously, that sound is from the long tubes not being equal length.

Second, catless DP is gonna destroy your sound anyway.

Sounds to me like you blew out the muffler and/or resi.

yeah already changed the resonator and as for exhaust leak doubtful because its just really raspy at idle its fine but at about 2500 it starts to crackle its getting really annoying at times i dont even wana drive the car .Well maube the headers are a fail but we will see dyno sheets soon enough i hope . If im not mistaken stu is running 12.7 and if you listen it sounds like he is running jbp headers aswell maybe im wrong but it does sound like them, if they dont hurt then the sound is worth the cost i paid .

ive never heard a baffle style muffler on a 4 cyl that i liked. the only flowmaster id consider would be a 60 series, and the inlet is too small.

id stick with a magnaflow.

i'm not a rep for flowmaster...but what do you mean they "fall apart"....cuz A...their welded...B...yeah i think their guaranteed....and C.....if they fall apart do you mean the exhaust flow of a cobalt ss/sc...tc is so strong/forceful that it blows the baffles out in the muffler....how can this happen when their's probably 2 million cars right now..muscle cars etc...big block, small block, 10hp probably through 2000 horsepower cars with Flowmaster mufflers on them now...and their mufflers didn't fail...i just don't understand what ya mean, but as far as flowmasters outflowing anything...i think that's far from the truth cuz dynomax's flow better i know, just my two cents

if your blowing mufflers because of the 2 step, your not gonna get away from that with a baffled muffler. i had a pair of flowmaster 60's on my old v6 cavalier, sounded great but it was a little rich and on the 2 step it backfired once and from that time on the muffler rattled. you will be better off with a baffled muffler, but its not gonna sound as good imho, and you may still blow it out. an exhaust cutout might be a good option.

ya ts just not worth it they all fall apart on these engines, its not the flow that gets them i think its the pulsing of the engine being 4cyl and the sc pusling air at them. but yes they do fall apart on the cobalt and sound horrible after they do. i had one and my brother had one and hen someone else with a yellow cobalt had one on here that was broken and really raspy

I think this set up sounds like crap. I know i have a 4 banger and know I can't get it to sound like a v8. Sounds tought; and props. I have 1.3/4" header and 3" catless DP from Clear Image Automotive and the 3" Hahn catback at is sounds like the Koni Challenge balts when they had the SS/Sc's. I think I have a couple leaks some where because at WOT I can hear imediant difference. I need to finish welding the rest I guess. I might like the sound of it if it were out of the garage. I will post vid of my combo once I get a chance. Nice car by th way and cobalts are the ******* ****!

mines offset inlet center outlet. it would still sound deep but would get raspy at high rpms. mines deep all through out the rpm range and sets off car alarms at low rpms cuz it rumbles. the vids do it no justice it rattles the walls in my garage and my house. when i fire it up the neighbors peek out their windows and already have the cops called... haha tru story

ya they all sound like that, at first, get a few miles on it and it will sound like all the others. also does yours get a really really raspy sound at like 2500 rpms

Do you have it just staight pipe from the down pipe then the flowmaster or do you have a resonator aswell ?
Becasue i was thinking of getting tyhe largest resonator magnaflow has its 28 in and 6 in round together with the flowmaster i wonder what it would sound like .

I doubt the flowmaster will do like all the rest because its not glass packed and this is why i was thinking about getting it or even a dynomax but the welded baffle edition. The reason the other mufflers get louder is because the glass packing regardless of the way they pack it eventually gets broken in and gets louder and louder . I had a cavalier z24 with a flowmaster for 3 years didnt get louder at all !

ive had that muff for like 2 years if not a lil longer and i beat the dog **** outta my car. sounded the same till i did all my mods. it was raspy and crackly on deceleration and kinda high pitched at 5,000 to redline but it was a bad ass yet unique sound. and no i dont have a resonator

if u break any muffeler in right it will keep the sound.... everyone is wot on there cars all the time so no 1 on here has a truely broken in exhaust ( for the most part) but if u do it right they will sound like the day u put it on.
