You will love it. It really screams with the 7000rpm redline. I put my 2.8 on right away couldn't wait.

Will you be running the 2.8 with the stage 2 tune only?

There seems to be a strong divide about:
Stage 2 reflash + a 2.8
Stage 2 reflash + a 2.8 + custome tune...

I will probably be just doing the first one.

Anyone feel free to chime in... (but keep it civil)

no debate, its fact, your injecters duty cycle wil be at bout 100 percent at 6100 rpm, i have stage 2, bolt ons and a 2.85, its getting tuned properly with 60 pounders....

You'll love it. The 7000 rpms are so very nice and needed.

why go with the inejectors? I thought we went over the face that we dont need them unless you go down to a 2.7? I might just be stirring the **** again and missed out.

its anyones choice at this point, personally i dont like my injecters running out of fuel at 6100 rpms, therefore swapping to 60s, and if i ever wanna run a smaller pulley all i need is a few lil calibrations to be adjusted since the injecters are already in.
im runnin a 2.85 right now on the GM tune, ive seen the data longs.

DO NOT LEAVE the dealership until you make sure you got the right reflash, i got my stage 2 last friday and no 7k rev limiter increase! I spoke with the tech and he told me he did download something to the ECU but apparently it wasnt the correct program. i am scheduled to go back there on saturday morning to get scanned and figure out what the tech did instead of the right thing. I am not the only one that has had this problem so make sure you have ur 7k before you drive home!

not only that, make sure you get the updated stage flash that just came out not too long ago, it improves the driveability of the car and it makes the car a lil more forgiving when you add an intake or smaller pulley.

ASTROCREP, this is my advice. Ditch the stage 2. Come with me to Cobalt-Addiction and we will get you a 2.6 with custom tune.

Lol... sorry already order it.

Thanks for the advice about making sure I got the right reflash.

Is there a way to tell if I was given the old s2 or the new s2?

I can hit 7k either way, but I want to make sure I got the new s2.

Thanks,
Richard P.

Stage II Tuning Update

This link will show you the proper download for stage II. I'm getting mine done tomorrow

I've read a few posts now about 2.8 pulley + the Stage II injectors being at 100% duty cycle between 6100-7k plus the whole point of the GM kit is to preserve your warranty...

I would stick with GM stage II for the warranty or if you really want more power go aftermarket altogether, get the pulley size u really want and the injectors you really need and HPT. just my opinion anyways watever its worth (lol prolly not much)

i don't have much spare cash so 3 year warranty is really important to me...but hey with the experiences some guys have had maybe that warranty isn't even worth ****...i dunno.

Ok I was looking through the install manual for the kit and it says:

12607644 Calibration data file - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS

Do I need to do anything to make sure I get the newest flash from the dealer.

I was under the assumption, that being it comes from GM Techline, I would be the newest no matter what.

Thanks,
Rich

I bet someone is probably anxious right now. The techline should have the latest flash available. Take the info in the link provided above just in case.

Cool, the install should not be a problem. I hope you burn a tank of gas for us when you get her back. I know I did.
