thats some nice stuff!! so you do have to use the stock hose, i kept thinking why would he cut the hose? and i then noticed you have to use the 2 pieces later on

Well you don't have to use the stock hoses but with a little triming the stock hoses fit perfectly and they are more than strong enough to support the little catch can's weight.

I mounted it up front AWAY from the rear heat of the engine and exhaust. To mount in all the way in back gets way too hot for my liking plus cutting the longer hose up front aligns the fittings better. btw the hose is 7/16-15/32 so 3/8 hose fittings are too small to correctly hose clamp!

So far no oil has collected which is good, but also has me researching as this might not be the correct hose at all for a catch can as noted in another post below of mine.

After further looking at hoses I dont believe this is the correct hose to be putting a catch can into for best results in catch oil where I have it now, altho it doesnt hurt having it plumbed in this hose either (and since no oil at all has even collected im pretty sure this is not the best hose to be plumbing into for a good catch can install). The better install by looking further would be the hose that is plumbed on the other side of the throttle body and not the one plumbed into the CAI tube before the TB.

The arrows in this picture point to what appears to be a pcv valve possibly (even tho ive been told the supercharged models dont actually use a pcv valve setup but it sure looks like one to me) of some sort and if so this is the better hose to plumb the catch can into and not the other hose. This other hose plumbs into the intake side of the throttle body which is the same way Z06 owners plumb theirs which is directly into the pcv hose that goes to the intake side of the TB as shown in a Z06 catch can install in below picture.

Im gonna track down the other end of this other hose and I bet it goes into the side of the block, head or crankcase port somewhere for the pcv system and would be ideal for the catch can to be plumbed into.

Green arrow points to pcv valve going directly into intake side of TB which looks to be the same plumbed inlet port location area the SC Cobalts use.

Yes you are correct as I was wrong in assuming what it might have been. Check valve looked like a pcv valve...

Haha, me too. I usually get a car and tear it apart right away. But this time I actually have a loan and more bills then usual. That means more time at work and less $$ spent on the car. Kind of sucks but at least I am learning something all the time instead of getting bored with it right away.

I was the first to install mine, but never got enough time top write up the how-to. Good job, but you should have mounted the can to the firewall like so.

The location on the firewall gets way to hot for a catch can wit ha polycarb bowl to be mounted as its only rated for 125 degrees then it startes to deform and the seal goes bad. A catch can needs to be placed in the coolest place possible to work efficiently and correctly in condensing the oil droplets out and for safety depending on the can type. If the catch can is too hot it wont sondense the droplets to the best of its ability or correctly (and yes under hood is hot everywhere, but on the firewall right over exhaust and all the heat from the block and head hitting it directly is not a good place period for it heat wise). Alot of racing guys wrap their catch cans in heat tape also to further help the condensation process of the oil droplets.

Plus on my SC model the hose back there is too short to mount it decently with its molded curves (your hose is much longer and routed differently than my model though, so you had more straight hose to work with).

Much easier mounted in front to access, plumb it in, drain it and keep it away from intense heat blasting it and a mount isnt needed for it anyway.

Anyway anyway its done it will work, so its owner optional where to put it or to mount it.

Mine seemed to fit just fine, I just cut out a little insulation and mounted it there. TO each be his own.

I haven't seen anything yet. There will be something eventually though.

When I cut the lines to install it there was oil all throughout the lines.

You can see some of it all over the hoses in the pic during test fiting.

I've had mine installed for about 500 km's and the filter has changed color from bright white to a darker brown, so the first drop of oil should be on it's way shortly, LOL
