Intake Relocation

Has anyone tried to relocate their air intake? To me it seems to be in an inefficient spot. I looked at an STI's engine bay the other day and noticed it's inlet is right above the headlight between the hood.

It is in a good spot it draws cooler air from the inner fender

Why would you want to move it? unless you were gonna remove a headlight for drag racing.
