Intakes with NO CODES on stock 06 SS S/C.

Greetings! I'm looking for an intake that will not throw a code or set off a CEL on my stock 06 SS S/C. I personally have not heard of one that doesn't throw a code, but you never know, there might be one out there. I did a brief search but found no concrete answers. If there's already a thread on this particular topic, please point me to it and sorry for the duplicate thread.

Thanks in advance!

While most with disagree with me, I have an 05 and that was the year that by far was the worst for intakes. I have a K&N WITH an oiled filter. I have not thrown any codes since i've owned it. Most will disagree that a K&N is not worth the purchase I've not had any issues.

Don't get an injen because of fitment issues, don't buy a K&N if you don't like oiled filters. Fujita uses a dry flow filter along with AEM. Choice is your on CAI but AEM isn't a full CAI, just where the hose meets the airbox is all that it replaces. GO with Fujita.

My CA XTC Intake has not thrown a yet. It is 3" tubing that uses the stock air box with the air box mod.

I'll do what I can to try and stir the pot. I have a K&N on my 06 and it is the only performance mod that I have. I have had it on since August and have not thrown a code. EVER. Since that is the only CAI I have used, it is the only one I can really comment on. However, I should say that there is nothing wrong with an oiled filter, especially the one that came with my kit. It was preoiled by K&N and came with a water resistant (not waterproof) cover. Almost all problems related to oiled filters stem from people over-oiling them. I have to say though that once it comes time to clean my filter I will probably just replace it with an AEM dryflow so that if something does happen to the car the dealer can't make it the scapegoat (I didn't pay for the extended warranty for nothing).

The choice is up to you but I didn't go with the injen because it was too shiny (I'm not down with the chrome) and had 3 rubber pieces. The fujita was way too expensive, almost double the cost of the other two. Also, the AEM was more expensive and wasn't really a complete CAI. The K&N is actually the only one piece tube CAI that I know of and I liked the color and quality of the kit. And don't worry about what every person or company claims for HP gains, they're all essentially the same at about 5whp tops. Especially if the rest of the motor is stock, like me. Hell, I really bought it because it makes the supercharger scream.

all of the CAIs have thrown codes except the AEM,
basically codes on these cars are due to a very sensative MAF sensor that really doesnt like oiled filters.

If you buy your intake of choice (the choice or pipe doesnt make much difference with regards to cel)....and put an aem dryflow filter on the end (if it doesnt have a dry filter already) your chances of getting a cel are extremely low.

Good advice guys. So far we've narrowed it down to the K&N system and AEM system. Keep em coming!

By the way, I read something about the reflash for the GM Stage 2 kit helping with intake codes. Does that really help or did I misunderstand that?

I also have the Injen CAI and have not seen any codes yet. You just have to make sure to disconnect the battery before messing with the intake swap

If you plan on installing the stage II kit in the future, why bother with a cold air intake? If GMPP doesn't offer one (like they do for the 2.2 and 2.4) there must be a reason why.
I was considering purchasing one but after reading all of these threads I would rather use the money for purchasing a CAI and apply it to the purchase of a Stage II kit.

maybe they don't offer one for the SC due to noise oridinance in most cities. Just a thought. Most third party parts companys will tell you install at your own risk and GM probably just doesnt really want to **** people off all that much. On the other hand, they do sell exhaust kits so who knows.
