Intense Racing Tuning

Hey Guys, I am planning to go to Intense Racing to have them tune my 06 Cobalt SS SC on Aug 31. I wanted to know whoever has an experience with them and their tune ? How well they tune Cobalt SS SC ? Any problems with them ?

They are very well known for causing lots of problems. They were big back in like 06 and 07 when there wasn't a lot of other options. But now they have been exposed and there are so many other good and safe options out there, they pretty much are unknown.

Stay away from them.

Trifecta is ok but doesn't come close to having the car tuned by someone in person.

Don't go to Intense. Plain and simple. If you're set on coming down to the Columbus area for tuning. Go to Brian at dtm.

http://www.dynotunemotorsports.com/

He's very knowledgeable about the LSJ and a great tuner.

I had a tune by the Brian guy/ intense racing (they work together) and the car idle surged like crazy and ran lean as ****. They didn't set the injectors up right even though they said they did. They blew it up on the dyno too with a new engine in it. I had to pay for a retune in the end from someone else because the car sucked. Your close to the james guy that tunes have him do it. Chevycobaltss3 I think his name is.

I see your from canton. That's like 20 mins from me. That bika guy tunes and he's close to canton or you could drive a little more and have acesNeights tune it. That's who did mine.

Yeah, How can I get ahold of Bika ? AcesNeights charge me $275 dollars for just tuning.

Ok, I will cancel Intense Racing.

If I go 1 of them I am hoping they don't charge me $200 or more. I am hoping like around $100 dollars like what ZZP is gonna charge me but 6 hours drive is a LONG drive and it's not worth it to drive 6 hours then they tune my car then 6 hours back.

$200-300 is a normal price for tuning.

Talk to James Rakes. (Chevycobaltss3)

Well, I guess I will have to send out my PCM to ZZP and have them do canned tune on my PCM. I talked with TurboTim and he said it is VERY DAMN close to tuning and I don't see why not give it a chance ?

Stay away from canned tuning. It is ****, plain and simple... You want a tune but don't want to pay the money for a amazing reliable tune? If you don't want to pay don't play. Whatever path you choose don't do canned

Intense is not even owned by the same people anymore. They were horrible back then and are still the same way today. I have met and hung out with the old owners at the track and they were nice, but the product sucks. I wouldnt let them touch a car I didnt even own.

For an Lsj getting a HPT is the way to go. And you can get it remotely done therefore still having the best tuner on it even if not in person.
Trifecta can't read AFR on an lsj and it's allot harder to tune that way. You end up just being really rich all the time.

I guess I will might have to save up my money to get HP Tuner or if somebody has it and sell it to me if they have it unlocked for 06 Cobalt SS SC then I will buy it from someone then learn how to do it myself before I tune my car.

a canned tune and a dyno tune are very different

canned is when they send a file that should work for anyone at any elevation, at any temp, humidity, etc. kinda like a stock file. it will not perform like a tune tailored for your car

dyno tune will actually be tailored to your car and they will be able to make the most power that they can, because they have a to test the tune with

in order of best to worst...
dyno tune, street tune, canned tune.
and there is nothing wrong with street tuning, minus the fact that you will not know what is most powerful and what is not

Ok, from what TurboTim said that he don't use canned tune on PCM. He used Dyno Tune on the PCM and he was telling me his Dyno Tune but without my AEM Wideband that he will might not be seeing will be VERY DAMN close.

That's why I am confused and said HOW!?

Yel what the guys are saying is that even if turbo Tim uses a Dyno to set up the tune it is for a different car not yours. I currently run a Zzp canned tune and it is good but doesnt keep the p0171 code away and still is finicky at idle. Honestly if you have the jack go to acesneights Cory and have him custom set you up. He has a great reputation and will set you up great. I hear it is night and day. I went to Zzp for my PCM because I had a locked PCM and never went to Cory for the adjustment. I really want to get my Balt up to him and get mine perfect. Zzp won't hurt you but for the price you might as well save your bucks and get the real deal. I am up near Akron if you want to see more or talk about the Zzp canned tune.

A can tune can be very close or very far just depends but u should always get custom tuned, ccss3 aka james rakes is close to u just pm him see what he can do far u in the price range and u will be tuned by One of the very best tuners out there. I drove like 9 hours in the pouring ran from augusta ga to james house to have him do my install and tune, it was worth it and i had an awesome time hanging with him and scotty. He is doing my remoto tuning also since i have a friend that lives near me now with hptuners but i dont have any regrets with my choice of tuner or the long trip i made to get it done.

I've been getting remote tuned by him and was even thinking of driving all the way over there. Its far as hell though >.< lol would be more than 1000 miles for me.

Still very satisfied with his tune don't regret buying hot to get remote tuned from him at all just thought of driving there so he could do it in person and see whats wrong with my car because a bunch of random problems always pop up
