Interceptor install...
I wasnt quite sure where to put this but hence its a performance diagnostic tool etc I will put it here.
My new interceptor with shift light etc will be here tomorrow according to UPS. I want to install it but had a few questions.
I have an 06 SS/SC with SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS. I know I have to take the A pillar off to put the new gauge on and I was wondering how this should be done with an air bag behind it? Is there a special way to do it or do I risk messing up the air bag's deplay by taking the pillar off?
also I understand you have to splice the new gauge into the old boost gauge's wires for power purposes, which cable connects to which cable?
also is there an easy way to run the cable for the OBDII sensor without it being seen/being a pain in the ass?
Any suggestions or guidence will be appriciated.
Thanks.

Anyone on this? IM more worried about the side impact airbags then anything. If I didnt have those I would just wing it, but I want to make sure its not going to explode in my face when I take the pillar off... Or when I put it back for something not to be right and for it to mess up when it has to fire and not come out or something. Anyone with side impact airbags put in an interceptor?
All you have to do is unscrew the screw behind the little flap that says AIRBAG on it, the airbag will not pop out, dont worry, I have done this several times. ****, Disconnect the power if it makes you feel better, but it's not going to deploy.
Splice into the pink wire..
I dont know how the new interceptor is but mine came with one wire, and i spliced it right into the pink one for power, best of luck.

Got it so the little thing that says airbag it has a little slot like a screwdriver hole like to pop it out. I pop that out, then unscrew the screw behind it then the Pillar should just come off? or are there fasteners or soemthing else holding it in place?
also are the wires pretty long? Long enough to give some slack? Having it connected to the pink wire will make it shut off when the car is powered off and on when the car is on right?

pop out the airbag flap, unscrew the screw, and pull toward the center of the car. there are like 2 pins holding the pillar on. i have the side airbags also. just take the screw out and pull. everythign will be fine

Engine Knock...
My bro hooked this to his Saturn redline today as I am at work now and he had to try it before I got home. He says that everything works, it did 1/4 mile times and stuff and even 60 foots, but he said his said his engine knock was 23 or 24 constant? He said he thought htis may be broken cause that would mean his engine about to blow up. Anyone familiar with the Knock setting on this and how it works, what it should say?
Yeah that is not right on knock. Was it showing knock even at cruise? The only time I get knock is at WOT sometimes. Hook yours up and see what it does. I know on their website it says with some cars some features may not work. But there is no way his car should show 23 or 24 degrees of knock.
it never went off of 23 degrees knock then ids shut car down and restart it and it would be 26 degrees but it would never fluctuate? did your guys interceptors come with 2 odb cables?
the shift lights are a nice touch and the 1/4 mile simulator is right on on accuracy!
but the knock is why i want the gauge!

it is most likely 2.3 or 2.4 degrees of knock not 23 or 24
also, i saw in some other posts, you have the Ingalls dampner, which causes increased noise and vibration, the knock sensor may be picking that up as a false reading, at cruise you SHOULD NOT be seeing any knock, some (very little may be ok) but still not good. Remember the knock sensor can pick up false readings and freak you out
I always recorded 0 degrees of knock at all times

just to let you guys know disconnecting the battery cable will not turn off the air bag,(just learned about this in auto shop.) they have their own little power source. this is how they inflate so fast. (it would take longer if it had to set off a relay before power was sent to the inflater (or so my teacher calles it). and their is a way to turn it off, i am not sure how to do this, it is in the manuel in my friends 98 v6 mustang. havent looked in the cobalt yet.
The airbags are in the headliner so don't worry about them.
I ran power all the way back to the fuse box and used the add-a-circuit gismo.
I ran the data cable down the inside of the dash to the diagnostic connector.
Here is what you have to look forward to:
