I couldn't see mine either, I messed it up one day, friggin with the buttons, do this it works.

LCD CALIBRATION PROCESS

Hold left button during splash screens
When the screen goes blank. Release the left button
Two numbers will be displayed at the top of the screen. They are rv 32 and rr 26
The right button will decrease rv.
The left button will increase rr.
Streaky displays can be fixed by reducing rv two to three units
After getting display to the best look. Hold both buttons to write these values to EEPROM
Gauge boot-up will then continue normally

oh, maybe i should mention.... the lcd utility controls fixed the issue. and yes lcd displays become distorted from the suns rays and by heat alone.

I have a round pipe cover (rubber) with a vent hole in the middle that I put on the gauge when it is parked outside. Keeps the sun off of the screen.
