Question issue's with the tranny's on the 2.0l

well i'm going onto my third tranny in less then a year for my cobalt. i don't under stand this at all.

first ttanny was factory error. the second was mine i guess. but the thing is since day one my third gear was causing me issue's. i had brought the car back countless times and they could find nothing wrong with it. i brought it in twice after the new tranny was put in. they we're not bleeding my cluch properly, they finally cracked down and ordered some special tool to do it right and i had no issue's after that, but my third gear was still screwy.

now to replace this tranny i had to sign a good will contract staeing after they put this one in i am no longer aloud any sort of transmission warrenty. i was not willing to do so, but about a week ago my shifter linkage shired right off.

what i was woundering is am i the only one with this issue. i was told my cobalt is the only one to have a tranny replaced...

these tranny i guess are indescructable... so i'm kinda confused as to why i have gone through 2 tranny's so far and i have only own'd the car for a year.

it's a 2006 SS S/C
3" pully, 42.5 lb inj, 7 grand rev limitor, 15 lb's of boost. so what am i doing wrong here

well these tranny's aren't the strongest.... but I don't know what the hell you are doing to the car. I've been putting over 290whp down for around a yr and probably 40-50 passes at the track and a few street races and I"m still on my original clutch and trans

Do you drive with only 2 throttle positions -- WOT and closed?

Sorry to hear you're having so many problems with your tranny -- let's hope the next one will last!

Well, then I guess you just beat on it too much. Do you floor it in corners? Do you shift while cornering? The reason why I ask is because while you are causing the wheels to spin at different speeds (utilizing differential action) this is a more vulnerable time for you tranny and driveline and if you have a habit of beating on it in turns it could be a possible cause.

I drive my car somewhat hard (I'm talking about WOT here, not just "spirited"), but only when:

1. It's not wet outside.
2. I'm going straight.
3. The road is in good condition.

I also avoid high rpm misses by smoothly shifting; there is NO transmission that likes to be "slammed" into gear only to miss and grind the synchros and whatever else doesn't like the situation.

i live in alberta man... i race every once in awhile in lloyd. i don't shift around corners, but it is not uncommen for me to light them up and drift across the lane's because i can't get traction. lol

The technicians from work just got back from a training class on our trans'. The one tech made a point to pulling me aside and telling what went on. He said that Wheel hop (our worst enemy) causes our tranny's to explode. He said the instructor dug that into them, he just kept sayinng it and saying it.
