K & N Air filter

So I just purchased the filter. Part number is E-O777. Anybody know how to install it? Sorry but I am starting this thread from my phone, so bear with me...

You have to take off the driver side wheel and loosen/pull away the plastic material of the wheel well to get to the filter.

Having only hours ago installing this exact part on my 3 day old SS/SC (WOOT)
i have a related question for those in the know.

after getting to the filter (quite a little challenge)
the stock filter squeezed off nicely
but the new K&N felt a little on the "sloppy" side
and had nowhere near the snug fit over the lip of the pipe.

though it did press a nice seal over the entire pipe against the back of the box. thereby leading me to believe that is the intended fit?
either way i tested the fit and snugged everything up and it breathes beautifully. and im in love with the sweet SC note emitting from the engine now.

anyways. my question being...anyone else notice this slightly sloppy fit?

You don't need to take the wheel off!!!!!

Just take out the 4 bottom screws and the 3 that are directly infront of the tire. Then you can pull the black shield down more than far enough to reach the air box.

Fortunately for me, when I got my Stage 2 installed on Mon. the tech put the K&N filter on FOR FREE... The Stage 2 is out of this world! I like the whine I'm getting now also, but it seems to get its loudest (when I can actually hear it over the new Ray Cash CD) when I shifting to second and third... I really like the upgrade. If only I could find a dyno where I stay...

Oh yeah... Forgot about the boost. I'm getting about 14 PSI... Been a little humid lately, but I hit that on an overnight creep to Cincy...

Question: why does E-0777 have a 3.31inch inside flange diameter for the cobalt SS/SC, when the pipe in the filterbox is 3.25inch.

I recently bought the E-0777 and installed it on my car.

For about 3 seconds. then it was back in the box and at the store asap for a refund.

does that sound like a good fit?
do you not worry about air slipping through such a sloppy gap at the flange?!

Mine fit on very snug. The different you're talking about there is about 1 millimeter, which is nothing since it's a rubberized seal.

When I put my K&N in (and no I did not remove the wheel) It was a nice snug fit. I don't think it is going anywhere.

If there is a way to change the filter without removing the wheel... is there a way to remove the box without taking off the wheel? In order to do a box mod..

Changing the filter without taking the wheel off is no problem. If you try removing the stock airbox without removing the wheel you maybe able to do, but it will be ALOT harder and you may break stuff. If you are going to put in an aftermarket CAI just take the wheel off then remove the entire wheel well and it should be easy.
