K&N Filter E-1009?

I was wondering if anyone knows the diameter of the opening of the K&N Filter E-1009. I have an intake with a 2.5in opening but not sure if it would work with my new CobaltSS.

Well the opening on the throttle body is 3 inches. So nope

The E-1009 filter has a 3 inch opening as well.

Also by the way, I just got my Filter from Modern Performance today. No problems.

I will put it on tonight and let everyone know how it went.

Well I got it all installed tonight. It took me about 40 minutes in total. But keep in mind I have taken the wheel/shroud off before. Anyhow the premade hole in the K&N filter filter made it a lot easier. The template they use is perfect and it was snuggle in place when I put the air box cover back on.

I took the car for a spin around the block to make sure everything was back together alright,
I didn't really get on it so I couldn't say if the butt dyno was satisfied.

Hopefully I will be getting another dyno done on monday so I will have a before and after dyno sheet to compare.

Sorry I didn't get any pics I did it at about 12:20am It was pretty easy, all I needed was:

got mine put in too.. the guy at the oil change place got it put in in about 10 minutes. He didnt have to take the wheel off.. he just layed on the ground and did it from under the car.. didnt even charge me anything to do it. I can actually tell a little bit of difference... a little more pep.

they cut an octagon shape out to make it fit. Then you just drop the filter in, it seals fine.

The do cut a hole in the bottom of the filter. The hole is a darn tight fit around the bottom of the air box.

I am one of those people who just can't make stuff work. I hope K&N has a CAI or filter made soon.

Theres nothing for you to have to make work.
You simply take the bottom of your airbox off, then remove your factory filter, and install the new K&N filter that we modify for you. That way the installation is very simple, and as you can see in the posts from other Cobalt owners in this thread, the filter makes a good difference !

There is really nothing to make work. The template in the filter that ModernPerformance cuts in the filter fit perfectly with the bottom. I wish I took some pictures now.

The hardest part is getting the stupid wheel well shround out and then back in. It's just a lot of annoying little plasitc fasteners.

In my mind if you are cutting something off to " make " it work no thanks.

And to be honest guys that filter isn't maximizing flow either. A smaller round filter like the stock one is better.

I really appreciate what Modern Perfomance is doing for these cars too. I called there and asked them a question and they actually went out and looked at there Cobalt and called me back. Most places wouldn't do that.
