when you take the bottom off sometime in the future, you will see where it has been contacting the bottom/side section you took off when you put it in. It also fits on the top of the filter box pretty tight.

Which drop in replacement did you use? I would say make sure you picked up the right one.. When my friend and I put ours on just over a week ago now, they fit on very snug. It was a tight squeeze to get it over the pipe inlet, and it was stuck on there very nicely.

Yes it most certainly does. In my experience it went from not being able to hear the SC at all unless I was at WOT and in the higher RPM range. After I installed the K&N drop in, it went to me being able to hear the SC wine in every day driving, and now it just screams when I have the car at WOT and in the higher RPMs.

I had this issue a while back but no one made much of a deal of it.

I refused to keep the K&N in my car as it was though.
oh. by the way. the suggestion when i called in about this was "put a few wraps of electrical tape around the pipe and it will fit"

woot. sounds like a quality mod to me!

The intake size of the SS/SC is 3.25inch. the diameter of the K&N is 3.31inch

I know its not much. but i noticed how sloppy it was when i installed it.

and im sorry. but if K&N makes a filter SPECIFICALLY for the ss/sc and cant even get the diameter right....ill go with another brand.

sry for the rant but ive used K&N for a long time and i was extremely miffed at the fit when i got the filter home. so it went straight back to the shop.

its not much of a difference in size. but im a little **** with things some times and considering what potentially COULD get into your engine without a clean intake....im not willing to roll the dice.

do you think that i should remove it et reinstall the stocker ???? because the car run fine, no cel and the car pull hard also i cant imagine something enter in the engine without proper filtering because when i replace the bottom of the air box it push on the filter to properly enter on the inlet tube but his not very tight on the tube

hard enough to get over the upper tube that I put a little silicon weatherstrip lube on it so I could get it on without bending the filter. That being said, it is held inplace by the the bottom piece you removed, so I wouldn't worry about it. I believe the proper K&N # for the LSJ is E-0777. Another thing I did, as I did not like the idea of a filter charger CAI sitting out in that environment without any protection, I chose to drill 101 - 1/4" holes in that bottom piece of the air box. It already had 3 or 4 - 1/4" holes in the bottom for water to drain out, so I looked at the outside of the filter box, saw where it stayed relatively clean after driving through a couple of rain storms, and drilled the holes in places where the lower filter box piece was clean. I calculated the 101 holes (I don't claim to be a mathematician) gave me the equivalent of approximately 2.5" X 2.5" more opening for cold air. Some moisture may get in, but at least there is some protection from the elements compared to a CAI filter.

Really quite odd... I didn't put any wraps of anything around the stock pipe, and I had to force my filter on a little bit. It fit on really snug and it aint going no where..

I wonder if this is a sign of manufacturing faults on one of the two products?? I know mine and my friends fit on the same way. I ordered both the E-0777's, and we purchased our cars within weeks of each other.
