K&N install query

bought the standard K&N dropin for my 06 ss sc

after getting to the filter (quite a little challenge)
the stock filter squeezed off nicely
but the new K&N felt a little on the "sloppy" side
and had nowhere near the snug fit over the lip of the pipe.

though it did press a nice seal over the entire pipe against the back of the box. thereby leading me to believe that is the intended fit?
either way i tested the fit and snugged everything up and it breathes beautifully. and im in love with the sweet SC note emitting from the engine now.

anyways. my question being...anyone else notice this slightly sloppy fit?

bump?

comon i know alot of you have the K&N E-0777
im a little worried about this fit being sealed enough to filter correctly.

after a bit of research it seems the K&N is a 3.31 inside diameter
and the cobalt piping is 3.25.....

anyone?

I have the K&N CAI installed but a friend of mine installed the stock replacement and they found that it might have been a little too big. i am not 100% sure but i think they had trouble putting the bottom peice back on.
