I've had the CEL P0171 since september when I did the air box modd with a DRY flow filter and since yesterday I installed the Injen intake and my CEL has been out the longest since I've had the car. The design of the Injen intake places the MAF sensor further up the intake piping and the piping is slightly smaller then stock allowing the the MAF to register the increased\faster flowing air drawn in. I think the stock placement of the MAF was ok with the stock filter and box because it was setup to flow at that amout and once you open it up it caused an unmetered air flow. Since the MAF was not reading all the air entering it caused a LEAN condition in were the oxygen sensor senses the lean mixture and then the PCM dumps more fuel into the mixture.
