K&N Typhoon problems...wtf

Hey all,
I have the same idle problems everyone else has with my 05 SS S/C and saw the write up on cleaning the throtle body. My issue is I have a Typhoon CAI and I need to take the hose clamps off that connect the throtle body to the CAI and I can NOT find the right size allen to take the screws out. The screws on the clamps are not rounded off at all...the 3mm is too small and the 4mm is too big. I have also tried the standard equivalnts and it is the same thing...too big and too small. K&N calls for a 3mm but is simply does not work. If any of you have the Typhoon intake can you go outside and verify the size if possible?

Thanks!!

you dont need to clean the throttle body...i had the same issue and moved the cone intake down as low as i could take it without being off the piping...runs fine now, no idle problems or cel anymore

No, I'm not having the P0171 problem. I do not have a CEL on that problem was resolved over a year ago. My issue is I need to get the damn hose clamps off so I can clean the garbage out of the TB. I have almost 70,000 on the car and have not done this and I saw the big thread about it resolving idle issues. I'm not sure what the hell size they used but apparently I do not have it.

Hehehe it's not like k&n made their own 3.5mm allen screws...it's gotta be one of the sizes or in standard. Even if it's too small you should be able to get it off without completely stripping the head. Personally I have hex head clamps and just use a nut driver or flathead screwdriver to get them off.

Oh, but I'm sure it is a 3.5mm - I don't know why I don't have half size allens but I know they exist. It seems like one of those deals where you lose the one they give you and then they want $20 for a replacement. I'll pick some up tomorrow and we'll see how it goes.

Ok I figured it out...9/64ths...I don't know why the hell I didn't have that size to begin with but the problem is now solved.
