K&N Typhoon w/ "Drycharger"

For those of you with the K&N Typhoon intake ...
I just got mine from TTR (TurboTechRacing) - great guys to work with by the way - and had a quick question: it comes with a panty-hose like sock thingy to put over the filter (I'm assuming to keep water out). How many of you actually have it installed on your filter? I had a similar CAI on my Camaro for years with no such cover and had no problems. It looks like it'll just decrease the airflow.

Any input is appreciated.

thats just to keep it dry incase it gets submerged in water, but i don think its necessary unless your going mud bogging.

Are we sure that it doesn't hinder anything? Short of a before and after dyno, I realize that this is a nearly impossible question to answer, but the material doesn't seem that "breathable" making me a little concerned about negating some of the benefits of having the CAI.

The material is totally breathable and it is worth putting it on. It will save you from re-charging your filter every month. Injen had dyno charts somewhere showing before and after and there was no difference. I personaly don't experience any difference and I have experience with and without it. It's worth it!!

Take a breath through an empty paper towel tube. Then rubber-band that on and take another...see if there's a difference.

You can go here for an injen dry charger. As far as k&n goes, go to k&n's website.
