Question Keeping the supercharger cool...

I know there have been a few posts about water injections kits...

I have been tossing the idea of using water injection just to cool the s/c when running a smaller pulley.

Cryo2 looks like a good idea, but a little on the expensive side...

As it looks water injection doesn't do much for hp gains with what we have, but would it be a cost effective idea to keep the s/c cool?

Also, I am getting the parts together and i'm going to start making a icebox for the aftercooler, similar to Billetflow's, but the ice chamber will be separate...

easiest way ............... new hood. heat opening in the rear and a ram in the front . have the air come in at the front bumper alowing it to flow over the s/c and engine and letting that HOT air escape out by the winshield

useing W/E, there have people that have used it and found that there was very little cooling happening. best thing to do is get an ice box from Billetflow to cool the coolant after the intercooler

Any thoughts about swapping the thermostat for a "colder" one ? (LOL is there even a thermostat on our cars ...).

Swapping Tstats would be a good idea. There definetely is one. I'd bet it was 192*. You could probably get a 180* from Autozone. I'd try to find a 160* though, but I know most local parts places don't carry any that cool. But I run a 160* without any problems.

jmc, you should run water wetter or one of the similar brands.. the max i seen was someone say the charge temps went down 20 degrees after they put that in the aftercooler system

form what i've noticed.. the ecotec likes to run warm 180~ degrees... i'm not sure how it would perform with a 160 t-stat

180 is not bad at all. Most of the 4cyl Ive drive run an average of 195 to 200.

That's cool for non-sanctioned events but if you run anything sanctioned like SCCA Solo events that's absolutely illegal to do.

pclear's suggestion is a great one...one of the best ways to start is by getting a functional hood that will both pull cooler outside air in and extract the heat from the engine bay.

Reverse Cowl is like so much more effective, the vac draws heat out, rather than inflating the engine compartment with an ugly scoop, which basically reduces airflow throught the rad...

Water Wetter and a Cooler T-Stat would probably be the most effective.

You could also run a second After cooler "Cooler" on the rad. Run them in series..

hrmm, some interesting idea's...Yea, the Eco wouldn't perform that well at 160 degrees I don't think, 180 degrees is fine, but cooler is better in some cases....I already have in the works of making a ice box simular to Billetflow's...

Really what my main concern is just trying to keep the temps of the supercharger down...

my temp on the gauge cluster was 213 F when I ran my 13.85 hehe. Definitely should have brought an ice bag.

Lower fan settings will help more than a lower temp thermostat.

The Stereo has got to go.. It's called a Rally Concept, Yet they forgot to keep true to the conviction of it being a rally concept.. What the **** is up with the Speedo? I hope they aren't all like that.

The engine looks well done and the interior is great minus the "Stereo"

They should throw some light weight rims and some killer dirt tires on it, it's at the right height...

Nice overall.

the speedo? you mean the gauge cluster?

yes they are all like that, they are all center mounted, and dont even try to dis it before you drive some miles in it and then see how much easier it is than the front mounted gauge cluster.

couldnt you run a small intercooler in one of the fog light areas and run that up into the intake with a bypass valve (incase rain hit it) would that cool the temps or not

Serously...it is way easier...like every person that has sat in my car is like...how u like the gauges...im tired of answering that question...they work great

and cvenom no that setup would be uber inefficient unless a turbo was feeding air into that intercooler then into the tb
