That is odd. I mean, it sounds like everything is straight to me...

I say go with the octane booster to possibly help.

Yeah I got some Lucas octane booster(EXPENSIVE!) and I experience no knock what so ever. 2 tanks per bottle so I figure 1 more bottle after this one will last me until I can get tuned.

The 27th right for tuning at Promotion?

Burst knock is a bitch...if its into a pull it isn't burst knock, that usually comes at the beginning of a gear change. The AFR can be changed and the knock reduced if not eliminated. Monitor your IAT2 temps also, see how high they are getting and how they stay high. The quicker they cool down the more timing you can run. We'll be able to see what you run once you get tuned. Personally dyno tuning is good to get a baseline and road tuning gets it finer since it has real airflow and actual conditions.

I believe that the car can handle 8* of knock in the computer. Over that becomes detonation, and a bang.

If you cannot get rid of knock, try to keep it under 3*. The more KR you have, the less hp you have. Try to tune around with the AFR and see if that helps. I try to tune the AFR around 11.5-11.7, but all cars are different. I personally have 3* of knock, but I am also pushing 100%IDC until I put my 60's back in tomorrow. Once I reduce my IDC I should be able to get rid of more knock. Wish we had 93 octane here at the pump :-(

yeah the 27th. I haven't set it up yet but there should be no problems with that date. My IAT2 temps in heavy stop and go traffic goes no higher than 120-130. Cruising around I've had it in the upper 50s-60s.

Just takes tuning. When I first started tuning my car, I got 2-3 degrees of knock on only 13.5 degrees of timing, now after a good 2 months of tuning I can run 15.5 degrees of timing and not see a single degree of knock on a 160 mph run on 91 octane. It just takes a lot of time to tune all the tables, and get it really fine tuned.

sounds like real knock to me since the octane booster eliminated the kr..

NO KNOCK IS GOOD..

i had 2 motors blow up from KR on my GTP (same exact concept)

if you are worried about it... go back up to a 3.0" pulley.. your tune is obviously not ready for the 2.9"

just because others get no KR.. doesnt mean that you will..

be safe

He's right every car is different, go to the bigger pulley to be safe.
Knock is not something you can just tolerate and accept that you have. It can be verry destructive if not handled right.

Side note, Welcome SYP to the community. I always liked what you did with the Grand Prix over on clubgp.co m and I look forward to seeing what you do with your SS/SC.

Another thing I have noticed is if I put the RPMs down near 1500 in 5th gear and go WOT it's 0 until 2500 and I'll get some knock that spikes at about 5 degrees then at 4000 it declines again. When I do like a 0-100mph run I get no knock at all except for the burst knock during shifts. All this was before the octane booster also.
