Larger throttle body

Is there anyone out there who could tune for a 15mm larger throttle body?? I know it plugs in and works, but the car would go into limp mode after about 20% throttle due to way too much air. What needs to be adjusted to compensate, and who could do it for me??

What TB are you planning on using?

I am sure any of our sponsors that offer tuning would be able to do this. I don't know if any of them are in your area though.

I think you have bigger issues than just a larger TB

The one off of a Colorado I-5. Direct replacement, but much larger. Just wondering if its possible.

Its possible, but your going to need someone to tune your car now with HPtuners if you want it to work right.

And I believe the one off the colorado is the same as the one I mentioned in the escalade. =p But yeah, get it tuned..and I don't see why it couldn't work to your advantage.

Right, is there anyone who can tune it?? I have done the work to make it fit, but I have to get the car tuned right when I install it, otherwise it is undriveable.

I will if anyone can tune!! I would love to do this upgrade and I would consider offering a package deal to people IF i can find someone to tune. I don't have the money to invest in a laptop and HPT or I would do it myself. Also, someone with experience in this kind of tuning could do it much faster.

You can port it, but only a little. I want to try this route instead. The programming of the TB is the same, but since the car calculates desired power then opens the TB to a certain percentage, the much larger mass of air was freaking the car out.

How well does the SC housing match up to the larger TB?

As far as inside diameter?? The tb is 15mm bigger, so figure accordingly. If and when I do the swap, I will take many pictures. I can't keep taking the car apart for no reason though.

Alpha,

Do you think there will be any other concerns when tuning for this mod?? I wil have to get the actual TB im gonna use, I just borrowed the last one. I'll order it tomorrow if you think that it will be fairly straight-forward.

The one issue you may run into is contact with the throttle plate and the supercharger housing while the plate is in the open position. It bolts right up, sure but double check clearance. It wouldn't be that hard to bore out the S/C opening or make an adapter/spacer between the TB and the S/C. I was going to test it out on my car last saturday but was stuck home with the flu. I'll be interested to see how this all works out as well.

The only effect would be the idle control by increasing throttle body size, which will need to be recaled in HPT. Retune VE and MAF and the car will no longer go into limp mode, being the PCM calulates manifold models based off of TPS as one of four sensors. The reason idle is affected to the extent it is, is because of the fact that we have electronic throttles and no idle air control motors, therefor a percentage of the throttle has to be cracked in order to sustain idle.
