Largest pulley for pump gas?

I would like to get somewhere in the 15-17lb range without fucking with meth and or race gas. By pump I mean 92 not some 110 bullshit.

Thanks in advanced
Nate

I'm assuming you mean 15-17 pound as in pounds of boost? I was running 19-20 psi on 91 octane.

The stage II kit takes you into that range; you'd be fine with premium and no other mods, but you should at least get a dual pass setup if you want to be anal about it.

Edit: FYI, our cars run around 12psi stock.

idk why but ive never seen 12 psi out of my car... most ive ever seen is almost 11. I even data loged my car with hp tuners and it came out to be 10.88 psi at 7 grand...

as for the poster 15 psi is common for the stage 2 from my understanding and you should look into cooling mods before getting crazy... Our stock heat exchangers seem to be to small for the heat the blower produces

I have a cobra heat exchanger. So how much boost does a 2.8 pulley produce?

92 octane?
even just stage 2 wont like that.

Before you go anywhere past stage 2 pully your gonna have to find a place that sells 94.

Right down the road has a 93 and 94 octane pump but I would like to keep it 92 because I wont always have the chance to fill my car up with 94. Its hard to come by around here.

an0malous 04-29-2007 11:19 AM

Dont go past stage 2 unless your gonna use 94 IMO

Alright thanks. Whats the pulley that comes with a stage 2 kit? What numbers do they put down as well?

CobaltSS313 04-29-2007 11:23 AM

yah stick with 93 at least IMO sunoco stopped selling 94 where i live however they just started selling 100 octane at the pump.:guns:
it comes with a 3.0" pulley but they make a 2.8" that fits the GM hub on the supercharger

my 2.9" makes 16.5 psi. so, a 2.8 will make probably 17-17.5 psi.

we're making some heat at this point.. cooling mods are going to be your best friend. get the dual pass + cobra H/E

Would a 2.8 pulley be to much for 92?

stage 2 is 3.1" i think, it might be 3.0".. IDK. BUT, stage 2 puts down like 230whp/215wtq on the dyno i was on. I made 245whp/214wtq with my 2.9", #42's, intake, exhaust, and custom tune. Myself and 1GMFANATIK both were on the same dyno... i have aftermarket.. he has stage 2. He made 230whp/217wtq.

Hope that helps..
P.S. my track times are listed in my signature

92 thats what is required after stg 2 then always reccomended even when i had my 2.4 but sunocos 93 is where im always at 2.8 nets u bout17lbs and u can still use the 42 lbhr f/i that gm gives u with stg 2 but after 15lbs u should definitially invest into dual pass setup or extra heat exchanger both which shouldn't be too much of a pain, and i dont see y u couldnt put a 2.5 with 60lb/hr f/i cooling mods up the butt tensioner pulley and clutchand still run 92, just watch out for ur tranny until u get some racing gears everybodys popin em in 3rd w/ that much poweralso the axle

I think you mean smallest pulley. I live at 3500 feet above seal level.I am running a 2.5" pulley and 17 psi is about max I get.stock I was getting just over 10 psi.

no. octane is rated by its resistance to combustivity.. meaning, that if your car isn't set for a higher octane gas.. u shouldn't use it. the only reason you would want 94 or higher is if you had it tuned for that octane.(it will make more power on the higher octane w/ the right tune)..... and also the GM stage 2 tune is set for 93. so i don't see a reason why you can't use 92 octane gas w/ a smaller pulley.

^^^ Spaz is right, the higher the elevation, the thinner the air = less boost.

The numbers i quoted for you (my boost levels) are @ sea level. I live in NJ.
