Last Call For Feedback Prior To M62 Porting/Polishing/Plugging
So i am just about ready to do my porting of my m62 for my 05 ss. For the outlet, i personally feel bigger the better. Since the outlet is your opening for boost headed straight into the intake manifold, a nice size port from stock would likely be the m62's ultimate christmas wish, no?
Also, for the inlet im not going as big. An overport would be taking away from the "compressed air" theory allowing too much air to escape essentially lowering boost. I will be porting just enough for the ls4 tb i have going on to clear the inlet. Also upgrading to a 2.9" pulley and stainless header to compliment these mods. For the silencer holes, i plan on welding cut out peices of steal to seal off the silencer ports. Last but not least, some nice fresh paint on that god awful cast look the stocker m62 has. So, before i go give this a go, is there any recommendations to be made for my project? feedback is greatley appreciated

Do not weld those holes shut. Quick steel is the way to go, if you are dead set on doing this. Welding it will be extremely difficult without warping anything. Not to mention the slag flying everywhere.

2 you have no clue as to what your talking about let alone that you have a clue as to what you are doing
3 leave it alone before you ruin your blower or send alan mclure a pm he can port your blower for you
2 there is an extreme little chance you will warp the blower
3 quick steel has been known to fall out

Theres millions of threads on here, the site is actually intended for feedback regarding the same car i own. Why wouldnt i search for any last answers prior to beginning porting? Your not obligated to subscribe to me and comment on every thread i create. Shut the **** up

^ its when you shut the silencer holes on both sides of the supercharger outlet. they have nothing to do with boost or air flow; they are put there to keep the blower quiet; so blocking them off makes it whine like a jew in a sweatshop
no he needs one thread not multiple threads but If he searched he would need none and your the one that is far from a welding expert and yes there have been quick steel failures from members on this board and pluging the silencer holes is useless and has no performance benefit I use the search and google all the time you should also so you can educate yourself and put good information out there instead of ****

All im asking for is the thread to where the quick steel fell out. Not to be a dick but if its true, I would rather know about it incase I decided to do it. And so far, all you have contributed to this thread was "****". But from most of your posts I see you just feel the need to act a certain way towards people, to make yourself seem Superior or something. have a good one..
Plugging the silencer holes is a waste of time.
I found one set of aluminum plugs I made for filling those holes, would be much easier to have them tacked into place or give the epoxy something to hold on to. If anyone's interested.

my only real concern for plugging the holes is this:
would whatever method you choose have to be flush on the inside face of the blower? because if its not there will be little air pockets that the rotors are spinning over. granted, they will simply move the air and in my theory there would be no compression but still...
imo quicksteel shouldn't be a bad option seeing as there is no pressure happening inside the blower. set the stuff, let it sit for as long as humanly possible (like a few days) and good to go.

Eaton was very clear about that, inlet porting can only help. You are just allowing more air to reach the rotors with less effort. Porting the outlet is a trial and error thing, Eaton say it's perfect as it is, Stiegemeier seems to have a special curvature that works better from testing IIRC. Would not advise and amateur to take on any heavy porting of the outlet. Smooth and leave it be. The inlet can be opened up for a match to the bigger TB and smoothed/polished as much as you can everywhere, it can't hurt.
