Launching with ingalls

alright im used to launching at low ass rpms because of the dreaded wheel hop ( like 1500 or so) but now since im getting ingalls what does everyone reccomend

something that makes me go... remember stock pirrelis and stock clutch sucks

so im thinking 3000??? 2500???

I'd stick with 1500. Ridding wheel hop alone will improve your times.

man idle launch and watch people cry! revving your car to 4k on stock clutch is only cool for the year and half it lasts

on the track and road i leave my car at 900 rpms and asss sonn as its time to move i take it up to 1200 and feather into gear then floor to ground! i have no mounts and i barely get wheep hop thanks to traction bars..... soon to have bwoody engine and tranny mounts

I hole mine at 2000 all the time. I cant afford any wheel hop any higher than that.

2 grand is the highest any body should go on stock clutch just think when i tested out my traction bars i revved my car to 6k and dropped the clutch (not smart) i didnt get no wheel hop but what was the point ide just be spiining anyways... the lower you are rpm wise the more grip your going to start out with especially if you now how to work the clutch (aka feathering 1st)

You will still have a little wheel hop. But the difference will be night and day.

I was under the impression that feathering the clutch (purposefully slipping) in 1st under such a high load is what kills our clutches so quickly. Personally, I don't have an ETD but I never have a problem nearly dropping the clutch at ~1.75k rpm. The problem I have is breaking loose later in 1st gear (after 5k rpm). It's pretty much impossible to "floor it" in 1st gear.

Purposfully slipping the clutch will kill the clutch, but it also can yield the lowest ETs depending on your power curve.

Watch the Pro-STreet bikes dragrace...they never shift. They run in one gear for the whole race, and keep the throttle pinned wide open and just use the clutch to accellerate.

The top fuel cars do the same thing, though it happens with the torque converter.

top fuel don't use a torque converter... use a slip clutch that engages as load increases... and the ingalls helps a little with wheelhop but still don't launch high... our stock tires blow and are also another cause of wheelhop... I have tranny mounts, engine mount, AND traction bars and still get some wheelhop... I attribute that to the stock tires... but should have my new rims and tires by then.
