That code can only be used once to flash an ECU. Every code is different so you can't buy the kit and give all your friends the same code to use on their cars. Chances are that kit is useless now because the code has been used.

No, from what I see on the RL forums is most don't give a damn to do the flash at all. There is one guy in Washington that can't find any of the dealerships to do it and he has called all in a 50 mi radius and not a damn one will.

Tons of people with the RL are having that issue, some of the dealerships don't know about the kits at all.

And trust me, I don't give too much credit to dealerships. I have taken my car in 3 or 4 times already trying to get them to check the cores in the intake manifold telling them that it isn't normal for me to lose coolant and for me to have 100* differences between my IAT1 and IAT2 with driving 6 miles.

Satty dealers seem to have a bigger problem doing this sort of thing than chevy dealers, I saw that thread on RL forums and they really should go to a chevy dealer....esp performance dealers, he doesnt want to drive to one for some odd reason....then again kinda reinforces my thought dealers are clueless...

I agree, all the GM performance delaerships around here know all about the kits and other stuff for LSJs. I'm about to just give in and buy a Intake Manifold and do it myself because its driving me nuts and robbing so much hp out of me...especially when I tried racing a CSS and I had 300*IAT2...I wanted to kick the living hell out of my dent resistant doors, ha ha ha

What do you mean "pop" ? You mean had the cores in the intake manifold start to leak?

Well that reflash number is a VCI. A VIN specific reflash...so I really dont know how far you can get with it.

That is a VIN specific VCI number. When the dealership calls in to download the software for the specific year of the car a different number is used and it is like a part number for the different years. Then the VCI number is used for confirmation and your VIN is added to a database with the VCI attached to it. So lets say someone bought that ebay package and someone already used that number well the person that purchased it and the person that sold it and the VIN number for the guy that stole the number will all be put into question and im sure at least one person of the 3 will get seriously owned and probably fined.

I happen to be one of these niave people who bought the kit on Ebay saving $400 but not aware that the VMI is vin locked. I went to the Dealer and they wanted to flash it and tried hard to convince the Tech line to give then a VCI but it did not happen. I am extremely pissed off and at a loss . The tech line also told my dealer that both cars involved with the kit are not flagged for possible warrany violation. GM is making a killing with these kits but that doesn't seem to be enough.

What Now ??

06 SS/SC
Recaros
Stage 2 ?

a reflash is when the ecu gets a new program downloaded to it......and as far as that code, when we call tachline for a VCI code in order to obtain the flash, that code gets linked to the VIN on the car.....so it's only good for one reflash

Sorry for the typing error but the word is "now" flagged for warrany violation. This tech line really seems to be full of themselves because the dealer told me that the guy he was talking to was a *****.
