If you do a set of cams try to upgrade the springs as well. That will let you up the redline.

THE best place to find that sort of data is the GM Powertrain web-site

http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en...g%20trans.html
Enjoy
(and dont forget to check out the Chevy LS7 and Cadillac LH3 horsepower and torque graphs!! )

Anyone notice the maximum gearbox torque is written at 258 lb for the LSJ transmission ? That's only 29% more than stock ...

Hard to do as you need the balance shaft chain to run the water pump (AND their bushing/bearings are part of the oiling system)
BUT GMPP offers a pair of billet aluminum "neutral" shafts to replace the stock shafts.
A bit pricey, and you will have to contend with a bit more engine vibration at lower RPMs

Did you also notice that the Trans is the same as the Colorado, Sky, Solstice, Hummer H3 and is rated at a "Maximum engine torque: 258 ft/lbs"

The block construction is also impressive.
