LSJ Normal Oil Usage?

Hi Guys,

I just took my 06 SS/SC on a trip across the country. 3.5 K miles in total. When I checked my oil upon return, i noticed the oil level was down a bit on the stick, but above the minimum level. I did not change the oil, so I do not know for certain if it was within range in the first place. Do these engines use a oil in general? I do not smell oil burning, See blue smoke, or have any leaks. Engine feels strong. Last pass on a quarter mile was a 13.77 with a few entry level mods.

Thanks!

yea mine will burn up through a little less than a quart over the course of 3000 miles usually

EDIT: I have no leaks, no blue smoke, car runs perfect at 50000 miles

it is very common for a motor to consume oil over a couple thousand miles. if it burns around a quart that would be normal in the eyes of most mechanics between oil changes. so unless you smell it or see it going some where i wouldnt worry about it unless it started to consume an ungodly amount between oil changes. hope this helps.

All engines consume oil. Some more than others.

a 4 cycle engine will nayuraly consume oil oil gets pulled in from the valve guides and burnt and oil left on the cylnder walls gets burned during the combustion procces also if things dident get oil the engine would lock up and valves would stick
