LSJ performance guru's your input is needed!

Ok so my friend Matt has decided to keep his Cobalt and we've already ordered the stage 2 kit from Chevy for it and he's had a custom cat back done but we need a little help. We got a K&N intake in but he didn't like the way it looked and how it was welded together. Something about metal overlapping creating turbulance, whatever. So we got the AEm intake in and BOY is that a joke! $250 for a filter, 10inches of pipe and some stickers? YEAH! So we're back to square one with an intake. He wants a COMPLETE intake that looks good and works better. Also what do you guys think of the Ingalls damper and urathane bushings for the transmission? Now for springs he wants to try the Tenzo R's, any input there would be great too.

Basicly if you had it all to do over how would YOU build a nice, daily driven SS/SC? He'd love to be putting down 260 or so to the wheels, can you help?

I would also say to go for the injen. And if he is looking to upgrade to urethane bushings, I have my old ones still in the housings. I have the ottp rotated mounts now, he could just take his old ones off and slap the ones I have on. Pm me if you might be interested, we could talk business.

injen is 2.5 aint it
and fujita is 3
only thing with 3's is
that you have to bend some
brake lines and a lil elbow
grease.

depends on how deep he wants to go with things. He doesn't really need a 3" unless he decides at some point to either drop way past a 3" pulley, or go further than just bolt-ons.

I would personally go with the Injen intake and dont do the uerathane bushings or the ignalls at all. Waste of money. If he wants to get rid of wheel hop 100% all he needs to do is go with the OTTP stage 2 rotated mounts and hes done. The injen is great with the 2.5" as long as hes not intending on doing a whole lot more mods/ very small pulley he would be set.

Agreed with your statement except a few things. The OTTP stage 1 axles are one of the best bangs for the buck for $224.99 they are far superior than the stockers and the only thing I disagree with is the suspension. I have rode in balts with both the Sportlines and the H+R's 2" drop coils and the ride is much nicer with the H+R's which doesnt surprise me much, keep in mind they are made by the germans(same guys who make the shamwow!!!lmfao) You know the germans make good ****! As far as struts go the SS/TC are fine but imo I think if hes got the money go with the koni's all around. Absolutely great ride and a great strut w/adjustable fronts which are a beauty for the track days!

injen is really the best one as far as gains, but be prepared for fitment issues. There's a small bolt that has a nasty habit of gashing that intake over time, especially if you still ride with the stock mounts. DEFINITELY get the polyurethane inserts if you don't want to spend a lot of money with ottp's rotated mounts. I heard a lot of stories about ingall's td breaking under heavy load, so I would just go with TTR's engine mount. They should have some kind of special where you get the urethane bushing free when you purchase their engine mount

the V1 injens flowed the best for the 2.5in guys, other then that a 3in SS unti from OTTP will be your best bet.

snag up some rotated engine mounts for hop control.

i'd run a 2.5pulley(the tq rocks), 60's, with a full vibrant exhaust(header back, cat-less), and a real solid tune.

it would be a kick ass DD, solid torque and great mpg.

now if we're talking DREAM dd's, then i'd definitely go with hahn stg. v, lol. But if I had to do it all over, I would skip the gm stage 2 and go straight to ottp stage 1, meth, a good tune, 3" exhaust, HUGE friggin h/e, all the stiff mounts, and a good set of headers and dp. That should put you anywhere from 260-280ish, maybe 300 depending on how crazy the tune is, and how much meth you cram down your engine.

for the power goals, go 2.8" and water/meth injection with a good tune. Any 2.5" exhaust should do. stock airbox mod ftw.

Brand names / manufacturers are inconsequential, its mostly just personal preference

This is a terrible idea. Spend the money on the STAGE 2 ROTATED TRANNY MOUNTS FROM OTTP!! Dont half ass it. These will eliminate wheel hop 100% I know because I run these on a balt with 400whp no hop at all. As far as what this guy is saying is a cheap alternative that doesnt eliminate the wheel hop and the really bad effect to the uerathane inserts andthe TTR engine mounts is the cabin vibrations are ridiculous so if this car is a daily driver you are going to most likely hate it(unless you enjoy that sort of thing!). If you are going to do it then I suggest to do it right ONCE. Also, I am not sure about the statement with the fitment of the Injen intake because I previous had that intake pre-turbo and it fit great w/o and mods. Also, the picture posted above is only 1 of the 2 mounts you get with the stage 2 kit.

Ok so then an Injen intake, OTTP stage 1 mounts, GMPP stage 2 kit, anything else he should need to make his SS a FUN little car to drive? Header maybe? As stated he has a custom 2.5 inch cat back should he also go with a hiflow cat?

Thanks guys as I never really got into the LSJ cause I never had one. You've all been awesome!

I would go with the Eibach Sportlines, I love them, the first pic on my images shows how they look on the car.

Already has a 2.5 mandrel custom system so no real point in the GMPP catback, BUT I will make mention of the header and dp, thanks!

Adjustable struts, had them on my Cavilier when it was lowered on Tien springs. They ride awesome!
