LSJ Tech Needed!

I have been dealing with this problem for a month or two now. I am losing coolant but I dont know where. To give you a mental picture about 2 weeks a shop filled the coolant resevoir tank to about 3/4 full. For the past couple days now the low coolant light has been on. I checked it just now the tank is about 1/4 full. Now I did this for a reason because I took it that shop when I first noticed it and they did the cumbstion leak test which came back negative and a compression check which came back 200s across the board and no apparent leaks what so ever. They also checked the oil cap for any residue and there was a very minimal amount, I have seen a blown head gasket symptoms before and there would of been alot more residue and the exhaust color is fine. Now I had them fill the tank to the 3/4 because they insisted everything was ok I plan on taking my car back to them and tell them to look at the coolant now I haven't touched it and its almost empty again. Where is it going? The car is running descently just put down 231hp to the wheels with a canned tune basically. So LSJ techs that now this engine in and out where is it going and where should I start?

for starters, coolant tank isnt supposed to be filled that much, only about half way. Have someone rev your car in neutral stand behind it and check for smoke. If its not leaking on the ground its being burnt.

The exhaust smoke is fine I stood behind it on the dyno no less thes a week ago. Also I forgot to mention I did the radiator leak test and it came back holding positive psi with a little drop but I think it was due to me not being able to hold the tester on tightly

If it is the head gasket how many hours of labor is involved? would a shop charge a arm and a leg? would I be better off tackling this myself?

Drive your car for an hour or two... and then park it. Then just sit and watch for about 20-30min to see if anything leaks.

And old VW that I had only leaked Coolant a little bit after it had been ran around for a while. Otherwise, its probably being burnt up... small small amounts. Possibly small enough to not notice in the exhaust.

I dont understand how a faulty cap would affect it but I will give it a shot

well your car is doing EXACTLY what mine was doing. it would slowly disappear. there was no evidence of a leak on the outside of the motor. the dealership put a dye in it and then looked at the exhaust and they determined that i wasnt burning it. so then they finally did a pressure check of the cooling system. they found that the cap wasnt holding pressure. so when it got hot it just leaked out through the overflow. it went straight to the ground so that is why we couldnt see any leaks. they replaced the cap and ever since then i havnt lost a drop.
