meth Q

ok so i just ordered my CXracing heat exchanger. now for the meth. I think i have settled on the base meth injection kit from ottperformance. my reasoning is: i dont want it progressive bc for daily driving aka when im under lets say 8-9 psi i dont want to be injecting any meth. I only really want the meth for races aka with my 2.7 ill want the meth for when im over 9 psi or flooring it. So, heres my question.

Would it be more beneficial to only inject water to cool it down untill i get tuned for the 50/50 mix? bc im going to be getting tuned for the 2.7 this sunday. I mean running 50/50 would only richen me up and slow me down. I think running only water would be better. What do you guys think? Will only water benefit me at all?

bump anyone?

This is just my opinion...spraying just water into your supercharger is just a bad idea. But someone running meth is going to have to tell you.

lsj i know it wont make a difference in hp. im not looking for better numbers when running just water. im thinking the water will keep the temps down and therefore ive me more consistent power? whats ur idea?

ok then. i was just making sure. cause im rushing to get so much stuff in im not ready to go drop mad money and drive out to the middleofnowhere to get tuned. thanks. and this may be a dumb question, but do you need to use a special type of water? (distilled or purified etc) or could you just use tap water if you really wanted to?

ok thanks. sorry last Q for you lsj. do you think i would benefit aka get more consistent power if i did just run distilled water on top of my heat exchanger or would it be detrimental to performance?

bump!

rephrase your question...do you mean put distilled in your heat exchanger or run that in your meth combined with the heat exchanger?

that is what a lot of people will run at the track and it works to keep things cool, but you should remember to drian it and re fill with coolant if it gets cold by you

I run a meth kit with 50/50 mix of meth /distilled water, works great, I also run distilled water with some Redline Water Wetter in my CA Heat exchanger in the summer months and then switch back to dexcool in the fall. I very rarly see over 135 F after a 3 gear wot run.

i have a question, if you run pure water through the intercooler system all the time, wouldn't it start to corrode things? this is the only thing that's keeping me from doing it, seeing as how i'll be driving where it rarely if ever gets below 40 even in the winter.

It would if you used just water all the time, however the water wetter has anti rust ingrediants built in so that when its mixed ith water its not as corrosive as just water over a long period of time

This is from Redline website

WaterWetterŽ is a unique wetting agent for cooling systems which reduces coolant temperatures by as much as 30şF. This liquid product can be used to provide rust and corrosion protection in plain water for racing engines, which provides much better heat transfer properties than glycol-based antifreeze. Or it can be added to new or used antifreeze to improve the heat transfer of ethylene and propylene glycol systems. Designed for modern aluminum, cast iron, copper, brass and bronze systems. Compatible with all antifreezes, including the latest long-life variations.

nice. thanks for the find. do you think waterwetter is worth it rather than just running dexcool all the time?

I am wondering this also. Should I be running just distilled water, or wiperfluid for my mix since I am not tuned. What will result in the lowest iat2 temps and keep my the coolest?

A water/water wetter mix will keep things cooler. I just add water wetter to the dexcool/water mix and haven't had any freezing issues. I don't run water b/c I am to lazy to change it out every winter.
