Meth Standard vs. Progressive

This is a personal opinion thread. I know what the differences between both systems are, that is not my question...

My questions is if it is worth the extra money on a progressive controlled meth kit. Are they easier to tune? Easier on the car? Are you able to get more gains because you are flooding the engine with less water, and adding more as it needs it?

The Difference is about a 100 bucks or so, and i guess if i can be convinced that the progressive is that much more superior over the basic kit, ill get it...

Any Input is welcome. Thanks.

my personal preference is a standard kit...set to 9 psi, easy to tune and does what you want it to.

Exactly.. Do you notice any stutter when it kicks in? I figured that would be the only reason for progressive...

A progressive kit is much better IMHO.

Its the same reason why most people prefer progressive nitrous kits.

With a standard meth kit you have to wait until a higher PSI to engage the spray. With a progressive kit you can set the spray to engage much lower and gradually build up to your max PSI.

Think about it this way. At 9-10 psi you have already started to create heat. Why not start to cool things down before it is too late?

^ he does make a good point...although my boost is usually at vaccum...very rearely when normal driving do i see a spike to over 3 psi...then when i step on it, it jumps to 16-17psi...not very much of the in betweens for me.

and yes, you will know when it kicks in, at least i did, when untuned, the car seemed to bog...now its great

That's a good point.

This is the differences in each kit using a 5 gph injector.

Standard Kit with start setting at 10 psi
1 psi - 0 gph
2 psi - 0 gph
3 psi - 0 gph
4 psi - 0 gph
5 psi - 0 gph
6 psi - 0 gph
7 psi - 0 gph
8 psi - 0 gph
9 psi - 0 gph
10 psi - 5 gph
11 psi - 5 gph
12 psi - 5 gph
13 psi - 5 gph
14 psi - 5 gph
15 psi - 5 gph
16 psi - 5 gph

Progressive Kit w/ start setting at 5 psi and max setting at 14 psi
1 psi- 0 gph
2 psi - 0 gph
3 psi - 0 gph
4 psi - 0 gph
5 psi - 0.5 gph
6 psi - 1 gph
7 psi - 1.5 gph
8 psi - 2 gph
9 psi - 2.5 gph
10 psi - 3 gph
11 psi - 3.5 gph
12 psi - 4 gph
13 psi - 4.5 gph
14 psi - 5 gph
15 psi - 5 gph
16 psi - 5 gph

With the Standard Kit, 5 gph at 10 psi might be too much. Causing a studder as you may have heard of. So some guys drop to a smaller meth injector to compensate. But then at 16 psi the smaller injector might not be enough or is leaving room for improvement.

With the Progressive Kit, you can control when and how much so much easier.

Which would you want to have?

Plus the progressive controller will detect any errors in wiring and if the pump goes and shut the system off as well, but IMO the progressive is much better, i am glad i spent the extra
