Miles per gallon questions

I have a quick question I use to get around 26-27 miles per gallon with my car, well i installed a AEM cold air intake and needed new tires so i bought new cooper tires. Well a few months down the road started to notice that now I'm only getting 21 mpg.

I needed an oil change so I assumed that was my problem so I got that changed and reset my MPG gauge and it went back to about 21 MPG is this normal?

or did the new cooper tires be responible for the 6 mpg drop

I'm gonna go ahead and say that tires wouldn't cost you 6 mpg.

are they snow tires? cause it is possible that the tires have decreased your mpg. all companies make tires that perform for fuel efficiency, that is why they are getting such great gas milage. I also am averaging above 27mpg and have an intake on thru winter.

winter mix of gas will give worse mileage than in the summer. possible that could be the reason. how often do you reset the dic? or are you manually calculating.

just to clarify, no matter how bad your oil gets it will never give you bad gas mileage.

and yes winter gas mix is very plausible

I get 26-27 with the shitty winter gas around town & 29 on highway, in the summer when gas is back to normal I average about 28 mpg's around town & 30-35 on highway, but then again I dont drive my car that hard all the time just the occasional highway pull, I get great MPG"s especially with the mod's I have, there is no reason that you should be getting such bad MPG's, try disconnecting your battery for about 10min so that it can reset the computer see if that works, also are you calculating your mpg's at the pump ? or are you just going of the cars DIC which is rarely correct.
