Missing Tranny Bolt??

ok so i was under the car making sure the new mounts are tight, it's been about 2 weeks so just double checking to make sure. while i'm under there, i notice it's a bitch to get the mounts to stay directly in the middle, they keep pulling to the side. so i'm looking around, thought maybe something was loose, then i saw what's in the pic below. it looks to me like a bolt is missing. but, at the same time, there's a MILLION places under there where it looks like a bolt is missing. so i'm not sure if it is or not. if anyone can let me know, and if it is missing, what size i need that would be awesome. thanks guys.

the pic is sideways here. so when under the car, if the lower mount is to your right, the circled part is directly to the left.

i found a lot of those when i was under the car.

by guess would be that they design the parts to fit a lot of different ways, so there are extra holes. not uncommon in cars

I checked mine out and there is a bolt there. Mine was missing one on the top behind the oil cooler.

yea, me too. it just seems like there's a very small gap inbewteen the 2 parts, that's why i though maybe there should be one. but i found the same thing, there's a TON of places where it looks like there should be one and isn't.

is there anyone else that can confirm this either way? it would really be appreciated.

Just take one of the others out and take it to a GM dealer. Probably either a 13mm or 15mm head with an 8-10mm thread diameter.

there's not any that look like the one that would go in the space. i tried that already

at this point i'm still not 100% positive that there should even be one there. if there is one that goes, it's probably an 18mm head.

i wasn't asking why there is a bolt missing. i was asking if a bolt was supposed to be there.

Go to the dealer, they can look it up on the computer. They have schematics with part numbers for every part of the car. Just tell them where it is you are looking.

have you ever looked under your car? there's probably 30-40 spots where it looks like a bolt should go but doesn't. i just wanted to make sure.

the main reason why i'm not worrying is because there is not one single other bolt on the tranny that is even close to the size that would have to go in there. and all the bolts are pretty uniform.

i was under my car a month or so ago and noticed the same thing. A place in the tranny that looked like it used a bolt, but wasnt there. Cant remember for sure if that was the same spot but it seems like it

(lol at everyone saying a missing bolt cant be good, hes asking IF A BOLT SHOULD BE THERE?)

good luck man

tranny to engine bolt. there wasn't any notice when driving. there's 7 other bolts holding it in, so it isn't going to go anywhere. i've seen that spot before but never thought anything of it because everything was driving fine. i noticed when i was doing someones mounts that he had a bolt there, and i didn't. talk about attention to detail

now, if i can only remember to bring home milk after work
