I personnally like and recommend Mobil 1, but then again I am a dealer and have easy and cheap access to it.

well right when i did my rp oil change, i loved it. i felt a lil more power honestly, smoother rpm range too. but now after 1500 miles, it feels more rough than before i got my oil changed. so from now on mobil one for me....i did the rp tranny fluid too. feels really good for the first 1500 miles.(did the tranny fluid 3 days b4 oil change)

No you don't. You can easily go 5K miles between oil changes. I do and i beat on my car daily.

It doesnt hurt to go 5k miles but its always better to do it earlier. I do mine every 5k since synthetics are alot better. But another key thing people forget about is the oil filter itself. The better the oil filter the longer you have to go for oil changes. For example, Mercedes I believe you only have to change every 10-15k miles. They have better filters that filter the oil better which allows for better and longer lubrication.

I've been sold on Mobil 1 for quite some time now, but I've recently started using Royal Purple as an experiment in my Integra and in the Cobalt's transmission. Needless to say that I'm so impressed with Royal Purples products that my next oil change here will be Royal Purple in the Cobalt. Their GearMax tranny fluid I used in the Cobalt's transmission is phenominal. It always goes into gear so much smoother now and provides a shock protection to prevent damage to the all the components inside.

Not really if GM recommends it for a certain engine why argue with them they get paid the good money to research and develope engines and what oil to use

There's no e in develop and it's all a marketing ploy. The new M1 formula blows.

I am sure GM gets a nice kickback for using Mobil. It is all politics. If the money wasn't right I am sure all of a sudden GM is using Penzoil or Royal Purple or some other name.

You can't go wrong using any of the big names, it all comes down to preference and warranty. JMO.

Not really, just change your filter and then top off the oil. They say you can go 6000 miles on Mobil 1 or RP, just be sure to change your filter at the half way point. I personaly use RP and have been for years. Mobil 1 is good, but I like RP. I actually change my oil every 3000 miles despite what the oil life moniter says, and change my filter at the 1500 mile mark. My oil always stays clean and pretty. I live in one of the hotests citys in the country, and a very dusty one due to it being in the desert. To each his own though, I have seen this debate on this site far to many times. I would reccomend trying what I said, and you will be happy. But it is up to you, your the one that makes that car payment.

Also RP has been proven to make more power than M1 on the dyno, but it does not add power just frees up some by having syncerlic in it.
