motors out

well i pulled my motor this week. not sure exzactly what happened, but i think i cracked a piston. i was wondering if anyone makes a rebuild gasket kit or do i need to get one from gm? also i was looking around and cant find any headgaskets besides cometic. which im told arent the best. any other companies making a head gasket or am i stuck with cometic? does anyone know the part number for arp headstuds? sorry for all the ?s but ive been searching and couldnt come up w anything.

if your interested ill be rebuilding my motor w forged pistons .20 over w/ coating.undecided what im gonna do about rods.arp's and p&p head and sc.

it is cometic or GM OEM. I'd say go cometic. The 2.2l ecotec headstuds will work in the 2.0L engine. I believe it is #231-4701

The Cometic is just a MLS gasket just like the stocker. Nothing wrong with it. Built 4 LSJs and used one in each. Do not reuse them though, same goes with the stocker.

Not cheap so you may not want to go that route.

I told you were to buy them, I am being nice.
It's not like I expect a friend to work the day after he breaks his finger, in three places, working on my car

AFIK cometic is one of the best gaskets out there.

Yes, but to run a solid copper gasket you also have to have wire o-rings installed to prevent seep, right?

What did you do with the rods? It's my understanding that the lsj rods are pretty good (forged). Might as well upgrade the valvetrain while you got it out
