Sorry, I have no experience with this unit, but I wonder if the 2.2 guys know about this? I've never heard of a MSD that worked on a 2.2, good find!

As for as this working on an LSJ, I wonder if it would be any better than tuning the stock computer?? I get the impression that the 2.0 already has all the tuning it needs with HP tuners? I'm no expert, sorry.

just my 2 cents, your reality may differ

The part that killed my excitement is the "Compatible with 1 and 2 BAR MAP sensors "

As for the price, that is very reasonable considering what other stand alones cost.

need more boost lol.
that actually looks like a pretty damn good alternative. As for hptuners covering all our tuning needs, no it definitely does not. no table editing, etc leaves people wanting to go speed density stuck

The unit only supports saturated injectors.

it would be great for the 2.2, but it doesn't support the e16 version bcm for the 2.2. Mostly for late cavaliers

1300 isn't that bad. If we had an AEM SEM unit available, I'm sure it would be upwards of 2500.

as far as I know, there's no plug and play harness available, so you would be doing alot of wire splicing.

I think you didn't read it all.

"Also included with the kit is an engine-specific fitted wiring harness. No need to get your wire spool and wire cutters out for this system. The MEFI4 can go from box to throttle within an hour."

oh sweet. yea I didn't see that part.

this setup would be awesome for an lsj... although I can see the "I blew my engine" threads multiplying like crazy from people trying to learn to tune on it.

Do not attempt to tune a standalone unless you KNOW what you're doing.

They can special order the harness for the cobalt. They plan to stock it in a very near future. The guy I talked with told me that tomorrow or the day after they should have a software demo on the web site.

That is a good looking product. It still doesn't address the problems with a street Cobalt, but it would be great for a race car.

The likely hood is that this doesn't allow for the stock functions to work, p/w, p/l/ac/sunroof/audio/ etc, etc.

thanx for the response, not what i was looking for but let me rephrase my question. what limitations, if any, does hptuners have that the msd ems would take care of? i'm on the process of building my lsj for 300-350 whp do u think that hptuners would suffice (money is not an issue)?

also would it be possible the still run the factory bcm to control all those functions (pw, pdl, sunroof etc.) in conjuction with this system? thanx in advance

HPTuners will work fine for 300-350whp.
As for the second part of your question, my understanding is no. That may have changed since I last called MSD.

Hmmm... Yeah i wouldnt spend the money on this because you could spend 1/4 of that and get MSII and have the same functions, just not a pre-made harness. But you could retain all the stock functions.

The unit is designed to control an engine, not the rest of the car. The stock ECM on the Cobalt also controls the cars throttle, power steering, cruise control, the instrument cluster, and it comunicates with the BCM. This unit would do none of those things.

I talked to MSD, today, about this ECU. It is not available for the LSJ or any of the Ecotecs for that matter.
I was told "at least February" before this is on the market. I did talk to a second rep from MSD and he will verify when the target release will be.
