Question Muffler packing around silencer?

So my mechanic mentioned getting some fiberglass muffler packing to wrap around the inner tube of the muffler silencer. To make it sound a little bit better. Mainly at WOT, to get rid of the "tin" sound. Has anyone done this? And does it help at all. Any tips will be appreciated.

clearly you dont know what a muffler silencer is.

Its a peice that can be removed from the end of the muffler to allow more sound or put back in to suppress sound, it looks like a funnel of sorts, his idea is to wrap the pipe of it and then stuff it back into the muffler.

your repacking a muffler on a dirtbike or 4wheeler the part he is refering to would be an add on baffle/diffuser used to quiet down a fart can 2 different setups

fiber glass wrap on the inside would be the same as packing a muffler full of fiberglass.

Jesus Christ mrbelvedere. Stfu, gtfo. You clearly have no idea what youre talking about. And I'm not looking to quite the exhaust. The loudness is right where I want it. As I already stated in the OP, I was told the packing around the silencer would get rid of the "tin" sound. I never said anything about loudness.

Just get a better quality muffler buddy the reason your muffler has a "tinny" sound is because you have a fart can and "wrapping" it aint gunna do any better because it's still gunna sound like ****. So stop being sooo offended by what people are trying to "tell" you and start listening.

wouldnt you feel like a douche if he did this and made tons of money off it because it fixed an exhaust. or if he makes a "how to" and starts a trend i bet youd follow the trend because you liked the sound it made

Honestly man i don't give a **** what this guys does I was just giving some advice. And I'm not sure why I would feel like a "douche" because I'm not the one with the problem my car sounds like its supposed to and not raspy and tinny like this guy and yours probably for that matter.

You seemed to be as stupid as the guy who started this thread why the **** would you stick anything up your exhaust. The whole idea is to get better flow not block flow. You probably have a fart can to and loud as ****. Just dumb!

well yes i do if you would have asked how do i get rid of the tin sound istead of asking a realy useless question or used the search button you would have discovered that to get rid of the sound you dont like would be to add another resonator in the system to kill the tin sound so now you have your answer and i know you werent referring to the loudness of your big rice fart can

wow realy i already knew that and it supresses the sound by redirecting it back into the muffler aka as a diffuser

Alright. I did this last night. And mrbelvedere, stfu. It helped. Alot. I have a silencer because I have a Megan Racing exhaust.

Start up was alot deeper, regular driving sounds alot deeper. WOT still sounds a little raspy. But seeing how I don't go WOT very often, it doesn't bother me.

I have a silencer because I don't like how loud it is for daily driving. I take it out at the track ect. And yes, I know the Megan isn't the greatest muffler in the world, and next spring I plan on getting a better one. I just happened to find a great deal on header, DP, and the exhaust. I bought what I could afford at the time.

So if you don't like the Megan Exhaust, ect. Don't bother posting. This thread obviously isn't in need of your CSS trooling, or opinion on what you think is rice ect. It's just a cheap fix to get by.
