haha that was. Anyways I'm with you. First year but I got all seasons because I will mostly be driving a truck. First snowfall today (2-3inch) and it didnt do too bad considering it was on all seasons but it got me down dirt roads so I'm happy.

YOU MADE IT INTO COLLEGE WITH THAT HORRIBLE SPELLING AND GRAMMAR!?!?!?

Anyway, an investment in at least a pair of steelies (16" off an HHR or Malibu, for example) and some snow tires would make your life a LOT more comfortable.

agreed get some steelies with snow tires. I've used the normal wheels and tires, they aren't terrible. You just cant accelerate. Mine stop okay, turn okay, for what they are. You just can't go.

Get some stock tire sized Bridgestone Blizzaks. You'll do great in the snow with those.

me too... with good snow tires the car is a beast. anyone that drives on summer only in the snow or cold weather is an idiot, and I hope if they crash they don't hurt anyone.

my buddy has left his truck at work to drive home with me when the roads are bad.

i said this on another post and ill say it again. I car, unless a very expensive sports car...ie. a Lambo or Ferrari are to ment to be driven. Some people decide to store their cobalts because its the pride of joy...i can see that. But to spend ~$20,000 on a cobalt and then store it to use a ~$15,000 - $20,000 Honda or some other car for the winter is pointless.

My 370z cost $55,000cdn and im driving it year round...thankfully they dont use salt here in edmonton but.

All you have to do for the winter, if not already coverd. Winter tires, better wiper blades, de-icer windshield wiper fluid and im assuming you stock coolant in your car...if so thats good, leave it. If not, change to very little to no water in it. Other then that you are good to go. Also helps to have a emergency kit....ie, blankets, shovel, sand/salt, flashlight, water, matches and a few other things.

Three years ago I stored my old 2.4 SS for the winter and then financed a $5000 99' Honda. WTF was I thinking? Just so long as you keep your car waxed the snow, ice and salt dont hurt the paint.

I drove for 2 winters on on the stock dunlops (i haz redline) and I am a dumbshit. It was so difficult and i got stuck so many times on ice and snow. The first snowsotrm this year I still had them on but the next day I put the all seasons up front for the first time and DAMN its a way different car in the snow. As everyone else said, tires make it manageable.

get a set of real snow tires and it will be 1000x better. With my 370z i couldnt move at all. Couldnt get out of my parking spot...finally did but got stuck at the gym. Paid $1500 for my winter tires and it gets nice traction now.

i drive my 2.4 so far year round. next year i'm gonna look into getting a cheap beater and when i mean cheap beater i mean no more then $500 and park my cobalt. now i know its just a cobalt and all that but its in 1 piece and would like to keep it that way. not to mention if something should happen its cheaper for me to go to the junkyard and get parts for say a dodge shadow then to replace parts on the cobalt. thats my reason for wanting to park my cobalt. but until that time comes i shall have fun with her in the snow as she is a tank with her snow shoes.
