This is my goal, help me reach it!

I'm not sure if this is is the right section or not ha.

anyways, i want to be able to beat evo's and sti's with simple bolt ons from a roll.
what size pulley will i need? will a 2.9, 42's, exhaust pull them? i've read different things on here, just trying to figure out what i wanna do right now.

thanks!

If beating stock/mostly stock STI and EVO is the goal you have for the car you will need:

Custom Tune
Dual Pass endplate for the IC (preferably a bigger heat exchanger as well)
meth injection
2.8 pulley
60# injectors
at least 2.5" exhaust
intake

I beat sti's and evo's now with 2.9 pulley, intake, header and exhaust. They always get the jump on me but then I run back up on them and beat them.

if you really wanna beat an evo with simple bolt, you bought the wrong car.. an evo with simple bolt ons and a tune will still rape with a 2.8 60s and meth setup...
unless your goal is to be stock evos.. but most people dont buy evos to keep them stock... :/

I am nose to nose with lightly modded sti's untill they shift twice while im in my gear, i pull on them and then get the response, " whats in that thing" or that 10 thousand dollar piece of **** beat me? yeah buddy it did. Most of the evo's on the other hand rape me. But I have gotten a few of them. Mods are in my sig. 2.9 and 42's have been fun, but this summer brings 60's 2.7, e85. well see how she pulls then

lol if your in colorado. Im really not one to talk crap, mearly state my expierences. And they have led me to know what my balt can do. Never a dig, allways a roll. and the gears on sti's and even the wrx's are short. I always yank on them. and I meant 80's in my post not 60's lol. my bad.
But I have bowed down to ONE and i honestly mean only one sti, it was an al anabi street car. 37r, and he pulled me like an fp evo would. other than that I am either nose to nose with sti's, maybe they pull me just a little or vice versa.
Im just letting op know that his goals are imaginable and attainable, An ss/tc would be hella easier to do so, but the lsj can hang okay for having a heaton on it.

was talking to the OP.
never said teh goals aren't attainable.
I dont do "rolls" or "digs"

I do Redline Time Attack and AutoX.

And based on my experience with E85 and knowledge of the cobalt. With its discplacement (bore & stroke), BSFC, E85, to achieve the BMEP required to have equal wheel HP to an STi you'd need an 80lb flowrate, which would put you at 100% IDC on 80lb injectors, so I'd say get 100lb injectors and run them @ 80% IDC max and not overload them.

um no... the 80s are rated to flow 93.5 @ our fuel pressure level...

you mention "your knowledge of the cobalt" but your are making an assumption based on nominal rated values and theoretical displacement to fuel usage based on stoichmetric properties

regardless he is trying to race cars with higher horsepower outputs but lower power to weight ratio (AWD)

If the OP was serious he would realize that a pulley and a tune wont net the overall results he is looking for

the TVS or going to a turbo most certainly would and would be a definate contender against the EVO and WRX.

I raced an 06 sti with intake and exhaust with my zzp stage 2 kit which had 2.9 pulley and 42's with an after market muffler and I beat him from a stop and roll... idk why everyone thinks evo's and sti's are so godly they are really not that fast. Also i raced an evo 9 intake exhaust and E85 dyno tuned (most likely more boost also) and only lost by 1 car from a roll with that setup.

lol, we took this the wrong way, sorry op.

op, piece together some stuff, and you will have a faster car, but please if its your first vehicle, get fimilar with the way it is now before you go putting more power down. Its one thing to have your first car and a nice one at that, but its another to not know how to properly operate and control it and lose your first nice car.

i mean this is technically my second car.
but i have been reading up a lot, and have been planning on buying a kit whenever my taxes get back for a while now. i think i'll be happy with 2.9 and 42's, because after all next year i'll be in college and won't be able to drive it as much anyways.
