my new full exhaust

ok so thursday my full exhaust will be installed. (in like 2 days i mean). I have the vibrant header, downpipe, and catback exhaust. all vibrant just to clarify. other than that all i have is a K&N cold air intake installed. What am i looking at power gains wise? the reason i ask is bc ppl make it sound like 3 inch is WAY too big of an exhaust and will not do much. how true is this? my reasoning for going this big is cause ill be putting in a 2.7 soon with some other stuff. thanks.

haha i threw an already FORGED rod. my aem wideband was reading improperly due to some complications and i was tuned too lean. i sold the car as is and just paid cash for the cobalt ss

plus the tc wasnt a sports car to begin with. suspension was mushy and the 5 speed was sooo short. it was a fun first car (yes i paid for it all myself, cars are my life) but its time to move on ahah

well i dynoed at 11 psi at something like 316 hp and 33x tq on a mustang dyno. i had a "big" 16g turbo (there are three kinds, i had the largest) it was ported as well. at 13 psi i would guess 340 hp and 350 tq (these numbers are to the wheels by the way). i actually have a vid of me raping a cobra with some stuff done to it i just have no clue how to post videos on here. if someone tells me i could upload it so you guys could see.

Very impressive. You won't be able to pull anything near that with the M62, but you should still have plenty of fun with the SS.

yeah, i know. no companies made a 3 inch though, and i wanted a company one, not a custom one. with what im gonna have next spring/ summer, ill need the 3 inch so im not too worried. its not like im gonna lose anything more than what? like 3-5 hp max haha not that big of a deal. and when i put the 2.7 pulley on that margin will decrease even more.

ok i do understand the differences. so next spring/ summer in going to have a harrop s/c. by the end of this summer in going to have a full exhaust, cold air intake, dual pass, front mount h/e and meth injection. im shooting for over 315 to the wheels next summer. so i dont think i was totally retarded in making my decision.

He is buying the 3" exhaust now in preparation for the Harrop TVS swap for next summer, he is aware of the lose in low and mid range power for now, but that exhaust size will be appropriate for the future mods.

I do agree with the 3" is to big unless it is a turbo or TVS swap though..not good for a mildly modded SS/SC...but this guy doesnt need to worry about that

Cant wait to see it done next summer

::scratches head::

3 inch is too big eh?

the time attack ss/sc runs a 3 inch corsa catback.

denny. it's not that. it comes down to tuning the low end. efficiency of air movement as well. if the car sounds like a vacuum cleaner. you have a restrictive exhaust. simple way of putting it.

yes a 3 inch will lose low end. IF you do not compensate for it.

there is a trade off with anything. 2.5 inch will help through the band, but it won't have the same "peak" hp that a 3 inch will.

is the juice worth the squeeze?

i will admit, that my timing work down low plays a huge roll in my torque numbers i put down to the tire

well the full Vibrant exhaust was just put on. hold **** its loud is all i have to say. haha i dont feel LOSS at low end right now, but i dont feel a GAIN at low end either. up top is not bad. it just sucks that i cant hear the supercharger any more. i think i will be getting a resonator put on this puppy soon to quiet it a little. i think if i drive anywhere past like 7pm im gonna get ticketed for loud exhaust. o well
