My review on the phenolic
I've heard so much about this.. Seems like 85% of the people have problems installing it, and don't like it, and 15% of the people install it. The 15% seem to love it and show very good results with temps..
Soooo I figured i'd go ahead and order one, because the cruising temps of 130* were just killing me...
The install was fairly easy.. The elusive 15mm bolt on the bottom of the intake almost made me want to give up though.. I don't remember ever having a problem with it when I did the dual pass, but whatever.. Removed the alternator and it was fairly easy to get too.. First time around, I used the 3 spacers on the bolts for the IC pump bracket. That is WRONG. My car was all jacked up, had a crazy leak. Took it apart, read over Zrated's how-to/review again for like the 15th time and noticed what I did wrong.. He says that the spacers go on the 3 bolts to the IC pump bracket, but 1 spacer goes to the bolt on the bottom of the IC pump bracket, and the other 2 spacers go on the bolts for the intake manifold bracket.. The pic Zrated posted shows the bolts in the correct spot, I was just confused because he said the spacers go with the IC pump bracket.. It is kind of confusing, but once you take the manifold off, you'll see everything. Once I figured that out, and put everything back together, the car was perfect.
I started the car and took it for a little cruise.. Ambient temp was 76*, and IAT2 was 87*.. I was so surprised at how close it was..
Another thing with the IAT2's.. when I would come to a stop sign, my iat2 would rise about 20-25*, but then of course slowly drop down.. Now, it rises 5-10*, and it rises much slower, and recovers much faster.. When I let my car idle for like 5 minutes, the temps only rose about 30*, when they'd usually rise about 50-60*..
Also did a pull later, IAT2 at the start was 90*, did a pull through 2nd and 3rd, IAT2 got to about 130*, and was back in the 90's in under 20 seconds... Now that seemed really fast to me..
Overal.. This thing is a must have IMO.. I love it. Install was super easy, just messing with the manifold is always a headache. & for only $100 from ZZP, you can't beat it. Just be sure to read over Zrated's how-to/review and pay very close attention to the pictures and you'll be golden.

Mine has been great and I recommend it to anyone we do a dual pass for. Its worth the extra 100 when you have to pull the manifold out anyways to swap the core. The benefits are greater than the "trouble" that somehow a lot of people run into. Haven't had any issues putting them on with anyone's car.

very nice to hear. jms u won't need to swap for a different belt or tune for this right?
i think doing this and a dual pass at the same damn time would be great for my car. i can feel how much faster the car feels on say a cool night compared to a hot one, so keeping the iats low all the time would just be awesome.

Tune doesn't need to be changed.. of course you could make it a little more aggressive-er, but the car will run just the same as it did before the spacer.
