My Stage 2 experience

Well after taking it in yesterday for stage 2 install and an oil change they had to replace my supercharger due to oil leaking from the snout. Got it back this afternoon paid only 259 for the whole job and they followed my instructions to put the old injectors, pulley and belt back in the box. I was impressed.

Bad news is that its raining out and traffic is horrible this time of day. I'm itching like hell to open it up and see what it can do.

************* did not give me my bits back for the pulley screws, ********

where can I buy that bit from so I can change the pulley at a later time?

How much were they charging for just the Stage 2 install? I'm planning on getting it in the spring and I want to find a dealer that wont rape me with price.

That sucks. Where did you get it done at? You will love the stage 2. You will have to go to the track again when we go to see what it will do now. The guys I was up there with before are planning to go to Cecil pretty much soon as they open. I'll let you know what we are doing, just let me know if you wanna go or not.

Ive spent the past half hour setting up my own ******* reflash based on the one from an 07 thats on the hp tuners repository, god I hope its the right one. I'm just puzzled at how the car is even running without any changes that I can see in HPT for the bigger injectors?

Is it something with the 07s where you cant read all parts of the pcm or something, oh well im about to upload this anyway, hope it works, else im screwed

I got it done at sutliff

Stage 2 = *drool*

Once you get it right, you won't know how you survived without it.

Good price man. I'm glad to see you upgraded to stage II. I know that guy with the purple cobalt in your area. (Josh) He told me your a pretty cool guy. IF I still have my balt we have to meet up. I can show you what a stage II with other mods can do

wait, you have hp tuners? why in the world would you bother to buy a stage 2 kit and pay to have it installed if you already have hp tuners?

x2
Anyways go back and get your bit for the pulley. You paid for it not them. Then ask them for the proper reflash. Keep the paperwork they gave you for your warranty. The number on the paper is specific for your car and warranty issued.

The one and only reason I took it to the dealer was to have it under warranty, thats it otherwise I would have done it myself.

The fact they didnt tune it pisses me off but its not really a concern because I knew id be retuning it tonight anyway, lucky for me I had a copy of the stage 2 tunes and im using that as a starting point and going from there, im looking over the data log right now making the needed changes, its going to be right just going to take some time to get there

hmmm. you know, thats actually not a bad idea, that way you can tune it any way you want and if there is a problem you can blame the dealership for it.

I would go get your BITS back , they are impossible to find new. The only way to get the correct bit is to buy a used one from some one here .

Well that sucks, had I known you need a bit like 3 days ago I could have sent one of mine up with my dad. He took my Cobalt up to Carlisle for the week. I have both of the bits that came with my stage 2 kit...

so you cant buy those bits anywhere? not even from GM?

On another note, just went over the data logs and everything seems ok but I do wonder about the 07 stage 2 tune thats up on the hpt repository the MAF table is no different and only the offset vs volts vs vac table is changed not the offset vs volts vs map table, is that a problem?

Main things I changed from when I got it back from the dealership unchanged

Rev Limits were still 6500 i changed this to 7000
Injector flow rate was not changed I set this for the 42lb injects
I checked the log for knock, made some slight changes to the spark advance
Pe enrichment vs rpm multiplier, I went back to the stock one here as I had mine slightly different but not enough to really matter
Changed the PE delay from the 3850, to 2250
Changed the Base IAT spark to match the 07 stage 2 tune thats up on HPT
Changed the Base ECT spark to match the 07 stage 2 tune thats up on HPT
Changed the P0068 test enable to 8000rpm as this is constant in all stage 2 tunes ive saw
Changed MAF fail to 11000 as this is constant in all stage tunes ive saw
Removed all boost limits Except for the IAT boost cut, I made this come on at 145 and made it a 70% which is alot sooner and more of a reduction than stock
Slight Fan changes and AC turn off under WOT changes
Speed limiter bumped to 200mph

You can't get those bits unless you buy another stage 2 kit. I went through a huge hassle with my dealership about it, mine mysteriously vanished and the tech who installed the kit happened to own a cobalt ss... wonder where they went? I eventually gave up and forgot about it, after weeks of excuses and non returned phone calls. When the survey came about my service dept experience, I filled it out terribly and explained what happened. I planned on never going back, but I have free oil changes to use up. Next time I was there for the oil change, a stage 2 bit was taped to my invoice and the service manager kissed my ass majorly and said he "hopes I've had a better experience this time and that the next survey will reflect that".

Just goes to show that those surveys are very important and you SHOULD complete and return them.

Sorry for the long post... point is, you PAID for those bits and you NEED them back!
