need help plz fast
my car wont start but it is cranking over just not fireing. and i have done charged the battery. the problem is. i had a big crack in my down pipe. that was causing the car to be extremely loud and run bad. and the dealer wont cover it. so yester day i moved the car out of my drvieway to get the camaro out of the garagde and move the cobalt in. well today i went out to start the balt and it wont fire up. so i pushed it in the garadge and put on the new downpipe and every thing and it still wont fire up. any help on what it could be or how to get it started would be great. also it is about 20 some degrees here if that matters but my garadge is some what heated so it should be warm enough for it??? ne help would be great???
guess no one can help?

Frozen fuel line maybe
Throw in some gas line anti freeze and try it again after the car heats up in the garage
over night
Was it starting fine before.
You could also check the fuses for the fuel pump etc,
No spark,No fuel or Neither?

Did you happen to find out what was wrong? Did you get it started?
I'm having the same problem right now. My garage is heated, usually around 62 degrees
so it's not a frozen fuel line. I parked it one day and it was fine. went out the next afternoon and it will crank just fine, but won't fire.

That's just about the same thing that happened to a customer that came in here. She was driving down the road and her car just died. It wouldn't start back up. She had it towed to our dealership and the techs looked at it.
The problem was she just got some gas and accidentally put diesel fuel in it instead of gas. She had about a 60:40 mixture of gas:diesel in her tank. It would let it crank just fine but wouldn't hit a lick.
All tests at first seemed like everything was in working order. The fuel pressure was just fine. There was no codes in any of the modules. Even the fuel tester tested ok. The fuel that the tech removed from the car even smelled like gas. It didn't even have a hint of diesel smell in it.

i would have raised hell about the stock downpipe not being covered , **** i gave all the guys negative satisfaction because they charged me 80 for an alignment that i didnt need
OK, if you have a crank, no start condition and do not have a code reader, do this: Take the cover off from over the spark plugs. Pull a plug wire off of one of the plugs. Put a known good plug into the end of the plug wire and lay the metal side of the plug on the metal of the valve cover. Crank the engine while someone is looking to see if the plug is sparking. This will tell you if you have spark. Either way, put everything back together. If you do have spark, disconnect the intake at the throttle body and spray starting fluid into the throttle body for 2-3 seconds. Put the hose back on the throttle body (quickly) and try starting the engine. Does it fire over and run for a few seconds then quit? If so, go from key off to key on and listen carefully for the fuel pump to pump for 2-3 seconds then it will shut off (you should not be cranking the car, just key in run position). If pump is not pumping, check the fuel pump fuse and relay in the power distribution box under the hood. Fuse should not be blown and relay should click when you go from key off to key on (put your hand on the relay while someone cycles the key on to feel it click, there is more than one relay there that clicks at key on). This should be enough information to track down the problem if it is fuel.
If you have spark and the engine does not start for a few seconds when you put the starting fluid in, then you likely have a problem with the crank sensor. This is where a code reader would be really helpful. May I suggest that for under $100 you can get a basic code reader and it will pay for itself many times over if you are going to play around with the car. Before I put stage 3 on my car, I kept my code reader with me because I would set codes on a daily basis due to not having one of the 02 sensors.
Anyway, if you do not have spark, check to make sure that your ECM relay in the power distribution box is clicking when you key on. Since our cars have a coil for each cylinder, it is highly unlikely that all coils blew at once.
I had this crank no start problem once after I did a clutch swap and I nearly pulled my hair out over it. Turned out in my case that when I put the ECM back in the car after the clutch job, I bent one of the pins and it was a real important pin. That being said, tell me about ANYTHING that you did to the car just prior to it not starting. No matter how insignificant it may seem.
