i will finally have a catback exhaust for the ss. i was never going to pay the outrageous price magnaflow or any of those other guys were charging for their catbacks, so i picked up a dynomax ultra flo welded muffler today. i am having a custom 2.5' catback made tomorrow and it should be way better than my stock piping with the not-so-flowmaster 40 series. here is the dynomax-

 

Before you install, you should get a comparison sound clip for before and after the change. A lot of people are going to ask for that, so you might as well do it beforehand.

hatrickstu, were'd you order it from? Or did you get it from someone you know, since you said you get it at cost? I have a friend who does custom exhausts, and I'm looking into getting a muffler, but have really only looked at Magnaflow so far. Thanks for the help and can't wait to see it installed.

I was thinking about doing a 2.5" system, but this muffler shows a 3". Are you replacing the cat too?

 

same style, but that is a center entrance/exit and side entrance/exit, where as mine is side both. mine is 2.5'' part number is 17222. the cat will be gone if they will also make a DP, but if not then ill just have the XTC catless on order in the next month

 

oh yeah if you get one of them there 360s we can be even lazier then neither of us even have to leave the couch to race hahah which saves on the gas.

 

Yeah, that sounds like something i maybe interested in if the price is right. Oh and PS3 is the only way to go

oh yeah guys, i couldnt have the whole catback made today because the shop talked me out of having 2.5'' piping where the catback begins because the DP is 2.25 going into it. they will be replacing from the flange to the beginning of the s bend with 2.5'' when i get my dp.

as far as sound goes the dynomax sounds exactly like the GMPP sport exhaust.

EDIT* The only thing I noticed you might have trouble with is the muffler. With my exhaust I use an offset/center muffler. Meaning one inlet is to the right or left and the other is in the center, seems like you may have allignment issues.

 

nope it aligned fine. its offset on inlet and exit. i dont want to do sound clips, i want to get some good video, but i dont have a video camera...

Hehe , I feel the exact same as you . I was no way in hell letting 550 plus go for a cat back when most of the stock exhaust piping is already 2.5 . I have barely 300 bux in my homebrew Borla

They need to make a rule that doesn't allow people to make threads about new exhaust unless they have sound/vid clips IN HAND!
