New guy question

First off, I would like to introduce myself. I have been lurking this forum for a while now but joined not that long ago. I recently picked up a 2006 SS/SC and have been tinkering with it here and there. I was considering getting a straight pipe from the cat back and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good pipe size and wether or not to keep or remove the resonator. It was recommended to me to keep the resonator because it doesn't make it as raspy. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Awesome, thanks for the advice everyone! I will definitely not be getting a straight pipe then. I have a long drive coming up and don't want to be dealing with ear shattering noise the whole way. I will definitely be looking into ZZP then, thanks again for the advice and all of the welcomes! Anybody have any advice for some good power gain mods? I picked up the ZZP 3" intake and was thinking about getting a 2.8 pulley. I don't know if I should get a bigger FMIC first or if it would be alright to get the pulley first?

I would personally keep the exhaust as stock as possible. Its very hard to find a good combination to make the supercharged cars sound decent. The best setup in my opinion is, badmap header, zzp catted down pipe (the stock down pipe is where most of your restriction is from on your exhaust) and just leave the exhaust stock, let the sc do the talking for your car

I too am having a hard time understanding/am new to the whole exhaust system thingo, though i found that i like the sound of this video:
Full exhaust! Bad-mab shorty header installed! - YouTube

if i understand correctly, i would want to buy these parts to get that sound? (i am a redline, not a cobalt ss btw)
-3" LSJ catback i have no idea what the resonator does
-Bad-mab header i understand headers so we're good here
-3" ZZP CAI not part of the exhaust but the overall sound is improved

or is he using this one with the 3" high flow cat exit option or what

thanks for the explanation!

edit: this one sounds great too but i suspect that it is far more money and probably too loud to have a convo while driving

Awesome. So the general consensus is to ditch the cat back and worry about the header/down pipe first? I want to get a 3" all the way back so is that going to present a problem when I'm trying to mate everything up to the stock cat back? Also another newbie question but do I need to get a tune if I get the header and down pipe done or is that only for lth's? Thanks again for all of the isight and patience guys!

EDIT: I also picked up a ZZP 3" CAI, it showed up a couple days ago but I haven't been able to install it since I'm not at home right now. I'm excited to hear that blower whine!

Enjoy the blower whine while the exhaust is stock. It gets a little harder to hear with exhaust

Hopefully the CAI can counteract the exhaust covering up the blower whine for now. I plan on doing a pulley upgrade as well but want to do a bigger heat exchanger so i can actually benefit from the smaller pulley.

Think about more than just a h/e. cooling mods are your best friend with lsj's

You mean heat exchanger like zzp's heat exchangers? I've read that you should pretty much just get the biggest one you can get, is that correct?

I'm going to pulley down to a 2.8 and it's not gonna stop there so it would probably be best to go big. So would i need to get a tune for the header and dp combo or can i run it fine without a tune? i know for best results to get a tune I'm just trying to see what i can get away with for now.
